“Quiet, convenient location with breathtaking views”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

Fox glacier is a lovely place to stay and is less busy that Franz Josef. The views from Rainforest motel are wonderful and the staff are helpful. We stayed two nights and our room was a good size, well equipped and clean but sadly in need of maintenance/refurbishment as the apartment was rather tired looking.

We stayed at this small motel for two nights in December and we loved our stay here. The location is perfect as it's a two minutes' walk to all the shops - afterall it's a really really small town.

We booked a two bedroom and it could have been enough for 6 pax! I should have booked a 1 bedroom as it's really spacious. The whole property is very well maintained, with perfect garden and greens everywhere. Facilities are basic but sufficient and everything were kept very clean. Owners/staff are friendly and is always willing to help.

The only thing that's not really functioning is the wifi. It's non-existent if it showed that we are successfully connected. Not too much trouble for us as we have a local data package and we connected all our devices with the personal hotspot.

The rooms were clean and while they were not luxurious, they were comfortable and had all the basic necessities. They were also spacious and had full kitchens which was convenient. The motel is just a few minutes walk to all the restaurants and guided tours. It was a good base for us to visit the glacier. The host was very friendly, and suggested we advance our glacier tour booking due to the weather, which was a great call. The only problem we had was that the WiFi signal was very weak in rooms 4 and 10.

We stayed here for 2 nights, the location was perfect around a 2 minute walk to the main road where all the shops and restaurants are, its about a 5 minute drive to the lake. The weather wasn't the best so we couldn't really enjoy the glacier or the lake as much as we would of liked. The rooms were fine, no issues at all with them. the staff seemed very friendly and gave us a bit of advice.

My wife and I stayed at the Rainforest Motel in Fox Glacier in October 2013. The location is great, as it's on the main road and you can walk to restaurants, shops, etc. when the weather permits. It's also very close to Fox Glacier itself as well as Lake Matheson. The rooms weren't anything spectacular in terms of luxury, but that wasn't the purpose of our trip. They are quite large though with a sitting area and a small kitchenette. We only stayed in Fox Glacier for one night, but this motel was a great choice and was a good value.

Well, it's hard not to stay in a perfect location since Fox Glacier is so small but I really liked the fact that it was two properties away from the main street, making everything easily accessible on foot (3-4 minutes). The motel was clean, spacious, comfortable, etc. The host was very helpful as well.

Here's my Internet connection review: the wifi access was free but it kept disconnecting over and over again, terrible. The signal has to be boosted somehow!

Overall, recommended.

This is a nice motel to stay in when visiting the Fox Glacier. The location is ideal, close to the shops, tour operators, hotel and restaurants and with good views of the mountains. The room had a comfortable bed, good kitchenette and nice bathroom, all in a quiet location. Managers were helpful and friendly. We would happily stay here again.
