Fox Glacier is my first experience of seeing one in real life. And it did not disappoint. Luckily for us the morning we went was beautiful with clear sunny day. There is a long gravel road leading up to the car park so be careful and drive slow. Especially if you have a rented/hired car. NOTE: Keep an eye out for a sign on the right hand side (drivers side) as you head towards the car park which gives you an indication of where the fox glacier was back in 1995 and how far it has receded.
Once you park the car there you get a nice view of the river of water flowing from the Glacier. And you will see chunks of ice flowing with it which is pretty cool. There are clean toilets there so good idea to use them before the walk/trek/hike to the look out.
The actual walk is easy for the most part. Highly recommend wearing comfortable sporting or hiking shoes. The last part towards the look out there is an incline which is steep but still achievable. The view is beautiful giving you a grand view of the glacier. There was a few rocks falling down the cliffs, some of them pretty big - and they create an eerie sound.
A good way to spend an hour or two in the morning. Worth a visit.
