4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2014 via mobile

Recently spent 2 nights at this motel. Staff fantastic. Happy, friendly and very helpful. Room very well appointed and extremely spacious. 20 minute flat walk through pretty farm countryside to get to Fox township. Discount given if you book glacier flights at motel. Recommended.

The room rate here when I booked was so low that I was rather nervous about it. But I needn't have been, and I told the owner that she didn't charge enough. It's just a small place, but our room was large with huge windows that looked across the fields to the hills (the view of Mount Cook was only available from our unit if we stepped outside, though we had a splendid view of grey clouds). The sliding doors/windows open on to a sunny terrace (when it's sunny!) with lawns in front, and the back door opens on to the car park and a shaded terrace with seats and very useful for a smoko. It's out of town and not on the main road, so quiet and peaceful at night. There's not much to the village itself - I think of it as just a stopover en route to and from more interesting places - although if you like helicopter flights over a glacier or active things in boats and on skis, you'll find it fun.

Stayed here for two nights and loved the spacious room. The view was fantastic despite the weather (unfortunately raining as we arrived) Breakfast is supplied if needed, great as far as we were concerned. Booked a walk up to Fox Glacier, cancelled in the morning but we were able to go in the afternoon. Woke up to lovely blue skies and sunshine the day we were leaving so managed to see the snow on the mountains. Walked around Lake Mathieson, it was beautiful.

Nice rooms and lovely location. Beds and linens great and well off road to be very quiet. Only a short way to Lake Mathieson which has nice walks, cafe and gift shop.
Great views of mount Cook from the room, we liked this place!

The lady at the reception was nice and warm hearted. The room was definitely up to standards and especially for the price. As the name promises you get a great view of Mt. Cook when you wake up in the morning! Great place to stay in!

It's average standard you would expect from a Motel, it's a bit further from the town center, but you do get good views out here during a clear sky. The owner is warm and welcoming, and the little cute dog :)

We arrived in a very cold afternoon, the room has been supplied with a very budget mid sized heater, since I was a electrical sales, I know with the size of the room, we definitely need a larger heater to keep the room warm. But anyway, Mt Cook is cold area. Except for this, I had a peaceful time here.

Stayed just one night in late January 2014. Loved the large, spacious one-bedroom unit for the 5 of us. We found the owners to be very friendly & accomodating of any requests we had.

Lovely views of the mountains in the quiet, peaceful, rural setting.

You ideally need a car to get there, as the motel is a couple of Kms out of the township - which offers a host of cafes & resturants. Would be very happy to stay there again.
