Owner description: Our Marlborough winery and tasting room are nestled in amongst our vineyards in the heart of Sauvignon Blanc country just outside of the town of Renwick. At the entrance to Forrest wines stands a prominent stone wall built of the very stones that come from the surrounding area of the Wairau Valley. Beyond the wall the drive way winds through our oldest Sauvignon Blanc vineyard, over the small stone bridge and into a beautiful park setting, with willow trees and a duck pond, picnic tables, badminton, tennis and patenque. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly, with toys for children of all ages. You may even catch a glimpse of Frankie the family Border Collie, she is so welcoming. The tasting room has a casual kiwi feel with couches, bean bags and outdoor furniture. A large variety of wines is on offer, a chance to taste a couple of your favourites or be adventurous and try a tasting tray with your choice of six wines. We pride ourselves on providing informative discussions about our wines, winemaking and our region. A selection of picnic nibbles is available for light lunches with cheeses, antipasto, smoked mussels and more. Please ask the cellar door staff.Wine tours of the vineyard and winery are available by appointment.Open 7 days 10am-4.30pm2011 Holidays - Closed on these dates below: New Year's Day 1st JanuaryGood Friday 22nd AprilMarlborough Anniversary Day 31st OctoberChristmas Day 25th DecemberBoxing Day 26th DecemberMarlborough has one of the world’s greatest wine trails: fabulous wine, breathtaking scenery, a warm climate and relaxed people clustered in one small grape growing region (approximately 14 x 7 kilometres). “Lovely wine tasting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2014

Visited the winery and did the $7 tasting of 6 wines (otherwise you could try 3 for free). Excellent choice to go for the more broad tasting selection. You are offered the whole wine 'menu', choose the ones you want and they are delivered on a tray with water, all marked up and with very comprehensive tasting notes.

A very relaxed way to try the wines, sitting outside in the sunshine (ok not much of a view but they have some lovely sculptures in the garden). No pressure to buy, but very helpful and friendly staff. We checked where we could buy the wines in Wellington and the UK, and restrained ourselves to only one bottle of their delicious gewurtz (available cellar door only) although it was a close call on their fabulous Sauvy sticky. The other dessert wines were nice, but try the sauv - it's exceptional.

Highly recommended!

“The Doctors Riesling - Delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2014

Absolutely loved all the wines we tasted but my favourite would have to be The Doctors Reisling. I am usually a Sauv Blanc fan but I am converted to Riesling after trying this delicious wine.

“Just lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2014

We were two adults and a baby looking for a platter lunch and a couple of glasses of wine. We were really impressed that they had a toy box for children and a selection of very tasty morsels we could choose from to make up a picnic with our wines. Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere and lovely platter and wine - what more could we want! If you are after flash food and views don't come here, but for a little something different we were happy we came

“Great wine, but views were lacking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

This is a nice place. The people were moderately friendly, but the wine and atmosphere were top notch.

If I were to give someone advice though I would tell them to visit a winery with better views of the beautiful Marlborough region.

From the Forrest estate you can't really see much other than the tasting room, and a few outside picnic tables.

Thank You for the helpful comment on thelack of view from Forrest Estate tasting room . When you are always on site and mainly standing you don't see how much the tress have grown. Much appreciated.

“Great Stop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2013

We popped in to Forrest Wines as a recommendation from the motel we were staying at. The lady who was there was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines and how they produced. She gave us a taster of three wines, although if you can buy a taster of 6. We ended up buying 2 bottles of wine at really good prices after our taster session.
