“Not for nothing all excellent reviews!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2014

This b&b lived up to all the reviews. Jo and Steve are kind and helpful, genuine and knowledgeable. The fresh flowers, breakfasts, afternoon snacks--a bit of heaven. We had gorgeous weather for a day of biking to wineries. We took a day to hike the Queen Charlotte Track. We had Jo arrange a wine tour and dinner at Hans Herzog that was perfect. 3 nights here was a real treat and great way to kick off a 2-week tour of the South Island. You will not be disappointed!

We have had holidays in the last 40 years and travelled quite a bit around. But this has been the best so far in our lives. Sometimes one will think, is it true to give excellent rating to all the points, but believe me, HillsField House B & B truly deserves it in every word.
We stayed with Joe and Steve for 2 nights in the loft room and I honestly can't think of anything so perfect & nice, As much cute the place is, the location is excellent and Joe and Steve have done so much to bring together the best for every visitor to experience and enjoy. you can easily cycle to many beautiful wineries around.
The room is very immaculate & spacious and it feels so great to come back to such a lovely room after a hard day of biking/wine tasting, Breakfast is served in your room perfect & top class. Joe and Steve are great hosts and I definitely recommend every holiday maker to experience their lovely B&B & their hospitality with so much warmth & kindness.

Room Tip: choose any room. They have the best view.

We stayed in the Hillsfield House Courtyard Room for two nights during our three week tour of New Zealand. The property is gorgeous, the room is beautiful and cozy, and Jo and Steve are the nicest hosts! Plus wine tour bikes are right down the driveway and you have more than enough vineyards to visit within easy biking distance. The room and the setting almost make you want to just hang out in your room for a few days.....with a few bottles of wine. My favorite part was the little "treats" we would find when we came back to the room - chilled water refilled, afternoon carrot cake snack, bed turned down. And there isn't enough space to write about the AMAZING breakfasts brought to your room every morning (the croissants....). This is a great place to spend a few days resting and relaxing after you book a hectic vacation schedule (we know we all do it!). In addition to great vineyards, you are also surrounded by first rate restaurants in the area. Thanks, Jo and Steve, for your hospitality!

My husband selected this amazing B&B for us and another couple for our stay in Marlboro. Not only was the B&B beautiful, clean, amazing views, it had the most gracious and caring hosts. My friends and I truly felt like we were staying with family. Jo and Steve are truly what made our stay so enjoyable. I cannot recommend them enough. Hopefully we will be able to return again and enjoy more time with them and their beautiful place.

We stayed with Jo and Steve for 1 night in the loft room and I honestly can't think of anything they could do to improve, the attention to detail is incredible, the location is excellent and you can easily cycle to many fantastic wineries, we managed 5 in one afternoon.

The room is very spacious and it's nice to come back to such a lovely room after a hard day of wine tasting, breakfast is served in your room and again was lovely.

Jo and Steve are great hosts and I would not hesitate to recommend their lovely B&B

Thank you Jo and Steve for having us stay at their beautiful property, conveniently located amongst the wineries in Renwick for a very cosy autumn night. Jo made dinner reservation for us at Hanz Herzog bistro and when we returned from dinner our courtyard room was already prepared for bed time, with lovely smelly rosemary on our pillows and bathroom. The home made croissants for breakfast were heavenly! You guys deserve all the praise and raves here on Tripadvisor!

All the tripadviser reports said it was 5 star, Paul Carberry of New Zealand in Depth said it was a must to finish our stay on South Island and now we have experienced the delights of pampering by Jo & Steve that happens to all fortunate enough to stay at Hillsfield House. The sincere & warm welcome, the advice on what to do & see but only after finding out your interests, the restaurant bookings and taking to the restaurant if required, the bed turndown service plus the attention to detail, we drink only ground coffee so a plunger and fresh coffee provisions appeared, we were eating a picnic of foods we had stored in our room fridge on night 2 so plates cutlery and homemade carrot cake were waiting in our room on our return on the second afternoon. Yes and the freshly baked croissants that everyone raves about, it all lived up to the well deserved hype. Jo & Steve please keep it up and may you get you’re rewards because you deserve every bit of praise! Simply sublime!!
