We found the food here to be good, plentiful and not overly expensive in NZ terms. The menu offers a wide range of choice. The atmosphere was lively as you'd expect in a pub setting, but in no way menacing or even unpleasant. In fact there was a quiz going on the night we were there. I makes these points in response to the comment of a previous reviewer that "the place had an air of the local rough necks hangout". I detected no such "air". There is plenty of seating both inside and out by the river.
