“Reasonable motel with some reservations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2014

We stayed here just for one night on our way back from Cape Reinga. The room was a good size with a kitchen area and separate bedroom. There was a nice garden area at the front which made for a good view outside. Everything in the room was slightly frayed at the edges and could have done with a refurb, especially the furniture and bedcovers which were a washed out yellow. The bathroom was OK and all rooms were clean. Was too pricey at $130 per night for what it was.

Room Tip: All rooms face the garden so all are OK

Great place to stay for the price. Our room was very clean and the beds comfortable. It is on the main road north but traffic noise was not really an issue, despite road-works occurring right outside the motel.

No restaurant, but as Kaitaia isn't huge there are good ones close by.

Pick-up point for Petricevich's Dune Rider bus trip to Cape Reinga which was at $55 NZD was great value.

We stayed here for two nights so we could do the Harrison's Cape Reinga tour. The welcome was very friendly and we were shown to our unit by the lady owner. The motel is not modern (but nor is Kaitaia) but the room was comfortable, spacious and the breakfast was good. Free wifi and a newspaper included. No air-cond but the portable fans keep the air moving in the bedroom.

After reading the reviews felt this must be the best choice, and whilst
a little jaded and could do with a bit of a face lift did have very comfy beds!
Didn't see the pool and think the spa pool was under cover.....a little worrying was that the owner asked if we had locked the unit as there had been a spate of robberies when folk leave the motel.
All in all pleasant but not exemplary

We have had 2 nights as a "base camp" to explore the far north. Great and friendly hosts. The rooms were spacious, clean and quite. All you need to relax. It was the first one of the "Host" ones, all of them have had a above average standard, and were more or less our first choice. Would book this one again.

Nothing wrong with the motel clean and tidy and fairly priced, could do with a bit of updating(but so could all of Kaitaia) owner was very nice. It's also a pickup point for the Harrisons Cape Runner which is why we stayed here. would stay again

Stayed here in August 13. It's the first time that I've stayed in Kaitaia. I usually stay further out. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the room and location to Kaitaia (5/10 min walk).
Would def stay again if needs be.
