“More than 15 years and never forget !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2012

I am so new on Tripadvisor, and seach on this, that and those...
And big 'Wow' !!! when I pinned where I have been and started to browse on this best friend's travelers web.

Spellbound is the place I will never forget.
Driving from Auckland and around the North Island was a big fun but exhausted.
Spellbound is a peaceful place to hide away from all worry. The B & B idea was quite new at the time I visited but Alan and Barbara did more than the owner of the Bed and Breakfast.
I have been there more than 15 years ago and I still remember their name.
How impressed !!!

***I must tell them when did I travel before submit this reviews,
the oldest I can make is June 2011***

Room Tip: The host is very lovely... They are not only the B&B ...

Excellent directions lead us the the front door of this B&B with it's wonderful views. A welcoming pot of and home made biscuits made us feel immediately at home. The rooms are well appointed and spacious. There is a guest sitting room in addition.

Breakfast is full of homemade home grown ingredients and should meet all dietary requirements.

Alan and Barbara are attentive and experienced hosts who manage to look after you really well without being intrusive or fussy, a rare gift indeed.

Each of our stays in NZ was better than the previous one on our month long itinerary but Spellbound B&B is a special treat. Located in the small town of Hahei having a population of less than 600 we were hosted by Alan and Barbara and we felt at home from the time we entered the place. Freshly baked cookies with tea in the garden with the views of the hahei beach just freshened us up from the travelling we did. Being vegetarians we always had to look for food but Barbara ensured that we were well fed and manage to get a great spread in the morning for us. Being a small place, the town sleeps pretty early and the only option for dinner is 'The Church'. The B&B is located just a stone's throw away from the various trails available to walk to the beach. Cathedral Cove is a famous place where many a movies have been shot and is the 'to do' thing in Hahei.

Room Tip: The homestay has 2 rooms and both of them offer amazing views.

Spent one night at Spellbound over Easter weekend. From the moment we arrived and were served tea and biscuits on the deck overlooking the water, we had an excellent experience. Our queen ensuite room had a view of the ocean & the morning sunrise. The prime location meant an easy morning walk to Cathedral Cove right from the B&B. The hosts, Alan & Barbara, are warm and welcoming, providing everything you could need from local info to a spade and beach towels for hot water beach to a delicious homemade breakfast spread. We highly recommend a stay here!

This is a most delightful B&B / homestay. Alan & Barbara were wonderful hosts and made us feel so welcome in their home. They have many years experience in looking after guests and it certainly showed, with every little detail taken care of.
We marvelled at how Barbara had the time to prepare the maginficent spread for breakfast in which everything was home made or home grown - and what a joy to eat breakfast on the balcony with such fabulous views of the sea - truly idyllic.
It was lovely to chat to Alan and he was very helpful on where to go and advise on the best times to visit Hot Water Beach, armed with one of his garden spades!
If you are looking for a relaxing and charming B&B then you need look no further than Spellbound.

Spellbound is absolutely fantastic!! From the most wonderful hosts Alan and Barbara to the sweeping views and proximity to the gorgeous Stingray Bay, Gemstone Bay and of course Cathedral Cove. Our one complaint was only affording ourselves one night in this gorgeous part of the world...oh, and make sure you get the FERRY across to Whitianga and don't drive the very long way around like we did...whoops...

Great location near Cathedral Cove and with wonderful views.
Breakfast was fantastic with homemade jams, compotes, bread and muffins, a lot of fresh fruit and even some delicious cheese. And it was so nice to have a chat with Alan and Barbara, the most friendly and helpful hosts.
We would love to come back to Spellbound, if we ever come back to the North Island. Unfortunately it´s such a long way from Germany...
