“Scenic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

The best beauty spot in NZ. Lots of tourist come here now which is unfortunate sometimes for the locals. A suitable walk for most age groups but not for wheelchairs or tiny tots if they cant walk, can be a good cardiac workout for some .

“You would not want to leave this place and go.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2014

The highlight of the area is the Cathedral Cove, is the cove through the white headland. To get there, turn left from Hahei shops and park your car at the end of the road. In the busy tourist season, it’s difficult to find a car park there. From there it’s a 1 hour coastal walk with panoramic cliff top views. Do remember to carry plenty of fresh water and food if you are planning to stay there for long. There are no cafes or fresh water taps there. The sand is white, water chilled, and surrounding serene. You would not want to leave this place and go.
You can also reach her by kayaks, which starts from Hahei. There are no roads.

“Stunning”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2014

There are many ways to get to Cathedral Cove, you can get a water taxi from Hahei beach and get dropped off right in the middle of the action, take a boat tour if you do not want to get off or for the more adventurous you can join a kayak tour and paddle your way round, and lastly you can take a 25 to 30 minute well used cliff walk from the car park in Hahei. Whichever way you go they all have the same advantages, stunning scenery, beautiful coves and beaches and unspoilt landscape. Great place to laze in the sun, take a swim and brilliant photo opportunities abound. How you get there is up to you, just go it is really worth the effort. We walked the cliff path, yes it goes up and down, yes it is in parts steep but remember it is a cliff walk so what do you expect? No harder than anywhere else I have gone. Well used track and wide range of ages making the trek so don't be put off. Next time I get up there I will be taking the kayak route.

“Worth the walk!”

What a view! What a beautiful beach!
We highly enjoyed it, and the bay of planty is beautiful.
The walk can be sometimes steep, but we met many families is the way.

“Not an easy track; uneven & hazardous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2014 via mobile

Excellent place, worth a visit if in the area. Can be busy and the track is hard for small children elderly or people not used to a two mile walk with steep steps and a significant slope. Part of the track is hazardous and a good place to break an ankle: for a major attraction the local authority are failing in their duty if care and not maintaining it.
