“Breathtaking ! An absolute must visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

Made the 45 min walk with two kids... 8 and 4 years old. They managed to get there with a few stops to catch their breath. A definite can do with kids. The views along the way were gorgeous... But when u get to the cave be prepared to be left speechless with its beauty. Words just cannot describe it except that it is breathtaking !
Make sure u carry a lot of water, munchies, sun hats, sun block, swimsuits and walking shoes !
Spent the whole afternoon there swimming and lazing around.... So very happy we made the effort to go down there! I would do it again in a heartbeat !
Walking back is more tiring but that's only coz u are tired with the swimming. But if my kids could do it and want to do it again then anybody can ! Don't waste ur money on the water taxis.

“Stunning!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

The cathedral cove is such a great destination for families, my family has been there multiple times during the summer holidays, from when I was as small as 3 years old up till now - 16. The little bush walk to get there gets you ready for time to spend in the unique New Zealand natural environment, and also helps preserve the amazing place. The cove is something spectacular, especially to little kids, but it still wows me now. I've had many good memories of this place, and I hope you will to!

“Pleasant spot to visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

Quite impressive as these arches go, and easy enough to get to. I visited by kayak, and by mid-morning there were a lot of people about. Another time I'd probably go early in the morning and walk down. In the evening the beach is in the shade, so if you want decent photos, a morning visit is essential.

“Long walk but amazing views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

My husband and I took our time walking to Cathedral Cove and it may have taken us a good 1hr from the carpark (top) one way. We weren't sure how long it would take despite the signs indicating how long it took as that sign is only an indication, and plus it may have been for more energetic walkers. The views are beautiful throughout the walk and the walk was worth it. It was a bit difficult coming back up as the cliff is quite steep and the staircase at the end takes a bit of endurance. You don't see alot of people on the track, but once you get down to the beach, you see the majority. The beach is clean and the sights from the beach are absolutely amazing.

Bring lots of water to drink as some paths of the track are quite open and has direct sun. You will get hot faster not to mention the steeper parts of the path will eventually make you quite thirsty.
