“Gorgeous Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

Gorgeous location, our campervan was parked directly in front of the beach. nly a short drive or walk to access the Cathedral Cove walkway. Toilet/shower facilities were clean and adequate facilities were provided. A great start to our NZ holiday!!

Fantastic location - right on the beautiful beach front and only a short drive or 30 min walk from the Cathedral Cove walkway. Small village close by with cafe/pizza/icecream and a shop with most of the basics for camping etc.
Toilet/shower facilities could perhaps do with an upgrade, but there's hot water (albeit in 5 min restrictions) and they do the trick.
BBQ area and kids play area are excellent.
Friendly staff
I will definitely be visiting again, I love this area of NZ.

Room Tip: We were camping in a motorhome - most spots are fine, some on the beach front. There are also cabins...

Thank you for taking the time to comment. Our proximity to the stunning Hahei beach makes the resort a popular choice for visitors. The Hahei village provides most necessities and treats. There are future plans for ablution upgrades. We have a variety of accommodation options to suit all budgets and holiday syles.

We stayed in one of the Cathedral Cove Villas on the beachfront and it had the most stunning view out over the ocean and the islands dotting the Coromandel. The Villa was perfect for us, as we stayed with our 15 month old daughter and it provided all the comforts of home, self-contained kitchen (decent fridge size), bath and shower etc. It also has a wonderful grassed area out the front of the apartments where our daughter could wander and play. The beach access was via a one minute walk and the location of the park to the store (small convenience store) was good. The staff were helpful and provided us with assistance in providing information on the nearest grocery stores, bookings for boat trips etc.

We would recommend families prepare for their stay in Hahei as it is very small with limited options for shopping and/or eating out. We ended up driving 45 minutes to another town to buy food supplies etc. Other than that though we had an absolutely wonderful time relaxing here and doing some great walks and drives to explore this truly beautiful part of the world.

Room Tip: The villas were very good, although the ground level room at the back of the villa did get very hot...

We had an awesome two days at Hahei Holiday Resort. The Campervan site was overlooking the ocean and had stunning views which were a delight to wake up to. Showers were clean with a good supply of hot water.

Varied accommodation styles here. We stayed in one of the annexes with one bunk and one double. There are some nice walks in the area and we slept well. We were only here for one night and found it adequate for our needs.
It was good for people on a budget!

Thanks for your review. Short and sweet! We're glad you were comfortable in your basic cabin. They're great for travellers or families who want a bit of privacy and a nice bed but still need to watch their budget. With quick, easy access to the amenities building, everything you need is taken care of. And the bonus is being on our beachfront property with walking access to Cathedral Cove and other scenic paths.

We stayed for two nights at this resort in November and could not have wished for a better setting. We were on the top row right at the edge of the beach and had a wonderful breakfast listening to the waves lapping! The resort was very clean and the facilities were excellent with plenty of spaces for our two mobile homes. The Reception staff could not have been more friendly, suggesting places to go, times to go there and even hiring out the spades for hot water beach. The cafe round the corner also served good coffee and had plenty of provisions.

Room Tip: Book 'H' row right on the beachfront

Thank you for your wonderful review. It's nice to hear that our team efforts in maintaining the facilities and providing excellent service don't go unnoticed. Our Beachfront sites for campervans and caravans are certainly very popular, both in the low seasons when you have the beach nearly to yourself, and in the busy season when you have a little bit more space and privacy away from the rest of the campsites. We'd like to take the opportunity to remind guests that even though Hahei does have a great little store, cafe and a few other food and shopping options, it's a really good idea to stock up on provisions before you arrive, especially if you'll be arriving late.

First time in Hahei - loved it! So pleased we chose this place, as we were also considering other beaches on the Coromandel. Hahei is the ideal base to explore Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach. The holiday resort has a lovely relaxed vibe, very pretty setting and right on the beach. The name 'villa' is a bit of an over promise - the style and decor is really more like two-story motel units, but very clean tidy and comfortable. There is apparently a strong sea breeze a lot of the time, but we were really lucky with perfect hot, sunny, still weather so no complaints! The views are really nice from upstairs. If you have little kids, don't miss Hot Waves Cafe at Hot Water Beach. Stunning native gardens, delicious food, and a kids play corner in the garden complete with treehouse and slide! What a find. We went twice during our 3-day stay ;-)

Room Tip: We were in Villa 8 - our view was a bit restricted by a large sand dune / hill garden thingy. The be...

Thank you for your review Jane. We're really pleased you chose our place too! Hahei is a small, easy-going village and here at the Resort we share that feeling too. We provide great accommodation of all types – from gorgeous sea view villas to camping spots and everything in between. Hot Waves Cafe is one of our favorites in the area, and the Hahei Beach Cafe is also great - only a short walk from the Resort.
