Summer has come and gone, but we would be remiss if we didn't write about the wonderful Summerfest weekend we spent over July 4th at the Wayfarer. We were a little nervous after reading a scathing review of it, but our conversations on the phone with Laura were quite pleasant and forthcoming that we found the review hard to believe and went ahead anyway. We're glad we did! The house is not airconditioned and as this was one of the hottest weekends of the summer we were a little concerned upon our arrival when shown to our room. There was a large fan in the window and Laura assured us that it would be sufficient. Amazingly it was and we slept very well all four nights we stayed with little noise audible from the street. The breakfasts were wonderful with a bountiful basket of delectable breakfast pastries, a variety of fresh fruit and several cereals to choose from. Laura was not intrusive, but pleasant , friendly and informative. The cats seemed almost invisible and, if there were two, we never saw more than one. Our one reservation was that we did not have a bathroom in our room, but some of the rooms do and we're already planning to return to the Wayfarer next Summerfest and hoping to stay in a room with one.

Stayed for a long weekend with friends. The house is nicely decorated, numerous comfortable sitting rooms, wonderfully fresh baked goods (especially the chocolate raspberry scones!) served for breakfast in a beautiful diningroom located on a quaint street in Historical New Bedford. The rooms were very nice and spotless and each had a private bath that were recently redone and beautifully appointed. The hostess was a hoot and always available with stimulating conversation. We also took full advantage of the hot-tub. The city had many new funky restaurants and bars, and the ferry to the Vineyard was just down the street. The house also had wifi for 2 of our workaholics!

After reading review titled "Filthy Kitchen...." I was hesitant about staying but decided to take a chance since the location of B&B was perfect for my needs. Upon arrival my friend & I were greeted by the owner and shown our room and the rest of the B&B.
Breakfast was delicious with fresh scones, muffins and danish as well as various cereals, oatmeal and fresh fruit, unlimited coffee and juices. The owner has spent the last eight years renovating the place and it is wonderful and cozy with lots of artwork (paintings done by her father). The bedroom and bathroom were extremely clean,
We enjoyed our stay and our conversations with the owner over coffee. My friend & I had a wonderful time at the Wayfarer and are planning to return again in the near future.......I would recommend this place to everyone I see!!!!!!
P.S. there are only 2 cats and they spend most of the time in the owner's living room or outside.......According to owner...kitchen will be completely renovated this winter! Final project for the house!
Again....this is a wonderful place to stay!

We found Laura the innkeeper to be most accomodating, friendly and pleasant. Our room was clean and comfortable. The house has been tastefully restored to its victorian splendor. Laura's commissioned her artist-dad to bejewel the walls with his oil paintings. We enjoy looking at and inquiring about them. The breakfast was simple, but rather healthy and delicious. We would absolutely stay again next time we visit relatives in the New Bedford area.

After reading ratings of this B&B on trip advisor I felt confident we had a good place to stay. Day before our arrival I received a call from Laura, the innkeeper, saying she was going to be out of town during our stay; she arranged for a friend to meet us and let us in. Rebecca was very nice and accommodating; however, for 2 nights we were alone in the house which was a little bit funny feeling. The innkeeper did come to our room at 6:30 am on the final morning to introduce herself and get our credit card; she said she was leaving "for work" so at 7 am when we went down to eat she had put all the breakfast on the table and left. Never had such a strange B&B experience The first major problem is that we werent told there is no air conditioner so with mid 80 temps and only a fan in the room, sleeping was not real comfortable; we tried opening only window in room and all windows in bathroom; however, first 2 nights people were in the yard behind the house so couldnt sleep w/windows open. There was no shampoo, kleenex, or cups in the bathroom so I made a trip to the kitchen looking for a cup. That was when I was faced with a VERY CLUTTERED and not so clean looking kitchen. I could not believe all the junk on the counters and when I opened the fridge looking ffor some bottled water or ice I was quite shocked at condition; there was a big bag of dried out looking scones and a commercial pkg of wheat croissants which turned out to be the same items we had on all three mornings (croissants replaced w/biscuits 3rd morning). So, breakfast was not really homemade and I felt a little squemish eating anything from that kitchen; fresh fruit and juice were fine. The other big item is the 2 cats that had free rain of the house w/food bowls in kitchen; they howled several times during the night especially around 4-5 am~~guess they wanted out but innkeeper not there. The rest of the house was tastefully decorated but had we known there were animals roaming at will (and probably jumping on kitchen counters), no air conditioner, and same breakfast used every day, we definitely would not have stayed.

Overall, I had a nice stay at the Wafarer B&B. The house is artfully decorated and the room was clean and charming. The breakfast (included) was definitely the best part-- the innkeeper makes tasty scones and serves fresh fruit and other breakfast staples (cereal, english muffins). However, the room was bare bones. There was no alarm clock, tissues, or conditioner (there was a half-opened mini-bottle of shampoo) -- these things usually come standard in hotel rooms. Still, the house is centrally located and less than a 10 minute walk to the town center. It's a decent value for the money if you want to be in the heart of New Bedford.

We stayed here and found the building and rooms beautiful and serene. The garden was lovely, with grapes overhanging the outdoor dining table, and a jacuzzi for relaxing. There was also a vegetable garden, and as the innkeeper is a great cook this didn't surprise us. We really enjoyed our stay (wish it could have been longer!) and we would definitely recommend to all.
