Clean, decent sized rooms, good location. Nice pool.

During my honeymoon, the Marriott decided to completely replant the vegetation in the circular drive in the front of the hotel. They had no problem booking us in a room just above said "re-planting." Quite a ruckus for 7am. Backup warning beepers sound remarkably like an alarm clock when you're that close. After the 2nd day of this (we're talking fully grown palm re-planting scale), I politely inquired on when the construction would be finished and was told they would be done that day. The next morning, my bride paid the front desk a visit (after waking again to chainsaws / workers yelling / etc,) and was given a similar reply. No recompense was offered whatsoever, other than a passing apology.

Also, just kind of a ripoff for the money they charge for a pretty average hotel imo. Had to walk out of the in house restaurant when I saw $3.50 for a cup of coffee. It's a CUP OF COFFEE. Not a cappulattefrappicano.... a plain cup of joe.

Had much better bang for the buck (and a full condo) down in Kihei at the Aloha Pualani. Doubt I'll be visiting any other Marriott any time soon.

Don't get me wrong, it's a gorgeous hotel/location and would be great.... for half the price (and we even had a nice discount) and twice the customer service.

My husband & I just returned from a 9 day stay at this hotel. We had a fabulous experience and would highly recommend staying here. The service was outstanding. Arman checked us in & worked with us until we found a room that had the view we were looking for. (we viewed 3 different rooms) We used Marriott points for our stay & he did offer us a free upgrade to a "partial ocean view" room, but it also overlooked the hotel roof. So we asked for a "full ocean front" room & he said it was a $100./night upgrade charge. After seeing the room & view, we went for it! It was sure nice leaving our balcony door open at night & hearing the ocean waves. Worth every penny!!! Not sure if we were ripped off, but Arman seemed pretty upfront & cool. All of the hotel employees were friendly & helpful. Especially Rachel & Terrence at the concierge desk. They were awesome! The grounds were beautiful & the infinity pool rocks!!! Drink service at the pool was fantastic too. We have no complaints at all. We ate dinner at the newly opened Malla restaurant at the hotel. This was great for dinner & had a wonderful ocean view. Also try Cafe Kehei for breakfast. (in Kehei, about 5 minutes North) Loved Sansei for sushi and Cafe O'Lei for dinner. Also MUST try "The Grill" maybe also called "Makena Grill" it's a food stand/grill along side the beach road in Makena. Locally owned by a lady that cooks on the grill & serves up tasty terraki chicken/fish and coconut rice. YUMMY & a good deal at $9.99 for a plate of food. We stopped there after snorkleing at the underwater preserve up the street. Fantastic snorkeling. Also took the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter ride. That was great!! We used Trilogy for a snorkeling trip to Molokini (the crater) I don't think the snorkeling was that great at the crater. Save your money & snorkel off the beaches. We saw better fish directly off the beach. Plus the water was SO cold off the crater. Highly recommend kayaking & sailing off the Wailea Beach. (right next to the hotel) There is a rental desk on the boardwalk in front of the Grand Wailea Hotel. These guys were the best & we had so much fun doing these activities. I think the rental desk was called "Maui Outfitters" or something along those lines. You can't miss them! This is a really special place! We can't wait to go back again!!!

“Wailea Marriot- gorgeous!”

Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa

A friend and I stayed at the Wailea Marriot on our first trip to Maui in Feb 2008. My first impression upon arriving was that the grounds of the hotel were breathtaking! Not a cheap place, but worth a splurge for a few days :) Check-in was fine without any problems. We had a partial ocean view room which was beautiful. It also overlooked the overflowing adult-only pool with cabanas (only downside was that they were rented out for $50 per day!). The pools were great, and overlooked the ocean. The restaurant was fabulous but expensive for dinner. The breakfast buffet was very good as well-- find out if you can book a deal where you get it for free because otherwise it can get expensive. The rooms were spacious and tastefully decorated, and very clean. No problems with anything in the room or with hotel staff who were very helpful. Room service was great as well. The balcony was one of the favorite features of the room because of its wonderful view. The only downside to this hotel would be its confusing layout-- we got lost more than once trying to find the right building, the right hallway, and the right room! We also used the spa which was beautiful. One complaint about the spa- we had booked massages and manicures weeks ahead of time, and when we arrived at the spa the staff informed us that the manicure person was out sick that day and they would be unable to have anyone else do them. They did book us manicures at their sister salon which was inside the Wailea complex, but the manicures there were considerably more expensive. The rest of the Wailea complex is beautiful, with many other hotels, shops, and restaurants. There was some construction going on in February that was somewhat bothersome when driving in and out of the complex, but not noisy and could not be heard from the hotel rooms. We rented a car because most things to do on Maiu required transportation to get there and back, outside of the separate Wailea complex. However, some activities provided transportation to and from your hotel so definitely ask when booking any activities. All in all this was a gorgeous place to stay, expensive but definitely worth a splurge (you are on Maiu, after all!!)

My family and I just returned from a very relaxing 8 day vacation at the Waliea Beach Marriott. Our family arrived on two different days, but check-in was a breeze. In order to keep our family close, and with connecting rooms, we were upgraded to oceanfront rooms free of charge.

The rooms were nice. I think they could have splurged on upgrading the televisons to flat panels, the tube tv just dates the room. I guess they figure people are on vacation, so who really needs TV? Also, if I was decorating the guest rooms, I would have added throw rugs under the beds to warm it up. That said, you will not be disappointed, the Marriott did a fine job remodeling the rooms - and the rest of the property.

We were vacationing with my 10 month old son, so we weren't able to use the adult pool, but it looks fantastic. One suggestion to the Marriott - People with children like cabanas too! The Marriott has 5 pools throughout their property, each one was nice, but we frequented the pool past the adult pool overlooking the ocean. It also has an infinity edge, but stll missing the pods like the adult pool. I'm still really bummed about that! The pool service was great! We never ran out of cocktails!

The breakfast buffet was good, and we ate there almost every morning. It's about $26 per person.

I must suggest going over to Longhi's at the Shops at Wailea. Ask for Lisa...she is a wonderful person, with great spunk and flair. LOVE HER. Also head over to Kihei and go to Aroma D'Italia Ristorante in the Foodland Shopping Center. The food is very good and reasonable.

Our experience was very good, and we would return to this property again. The prices seemed to be just like every other place I have been too, so I can't really comment on that.

Just a little note...another reviewer mentioned housekeeping problems, we experienced none of that during our stay.

Cheers and happy travels!

We decided to stay here for 3 nights on our two week honeymoon to Hawaii.

As an elite member and someone who indicated that he was on his honeymoon, I feel that the treatment that I got from the hotel was lacking.

When we checked in, we were not offered an upgrade, nor even congratulated for being on our honeymoon (in stark contrast to other properties that we stayed at).

The box of 4 chocolate covered macadamia nuts was a special treat though.

The rooms are recently renovated, though they put a tube tv in each room, instead of a flat panel tv. Also, it appears that they put the same old shower curtain rings (bent out of shape) back in the bathroom. Also, the shower head really needed to be descaled. My profile on marriott.com indicates that I like foam pillows, but that too "slipped" by their attention.

Upon speaking to the manager on duty the night we checked in, after being told twice that there were no upgrades available, we were told that there was an oceanfront room available, better than the oceanview room (which is code for "partial ocean view"). The upgraded room only had a queen bed though (why?). Since we had unpacked already we declined it at that point. I give the manager credit because she wound up sending us a nice basket of goodies to make up for the lackluster treatment.

Now the adult pool was a bright spot - it's a gorgeous infinity pool that just opened. There is a no cellphone use policy around the pool (but it's mostly ignored and unenforced). Also - Anita the waitress at the pool was fantastic.

Overall, had this not been our honeymoon, everything would have been fine - but as an elite member and honeymooner, I felt like a number.
