My family and I just returned from a very relaxing 8 day vacation at the Waliea Beach Marriott. Our family arrived on two different days, but check-in was a breeze. In order to keep our family close, and with connecting rooms, we were upgraded to oceanfront rooms free of charge.

The rooms were nice. I think they could have splurged on upgrading the televisons to flat panels, the tube tv just dates the room. I guess they figure people are on vacation, so who really needs TV? Also, if I was decorating the guest rooms, I would have added throw rugs under the beds to warm it up. That said, you will not be disappointed, the Marriott did a fine job remodeling the rooms - and the rest of the property.

We were vacationing with my 10 month old son, so we weren't able to use the adult pool, but it looks fantastic. One suggestion to the Marriott - People with children like cabanas too! The Marriott has 5 pools throughout their property, each one was nice, but we frequented the pool past the adult pool overlooking the ocean. It also has an infinity edge, but stll missing the pods like the adult pool. I'm still really bummed about that! The pool service was great! We never ran out of cocktails!

The breakfast buffet was good, and we ate there almost every morning. It's about $26 per person.

I must suggest going over to Longhi's at the Shops at Wailea. Ask for Lisa...she is a wonderful person, with great spunk and flair. LOVE HER. Also head over to Kihei and go to Aroma D'Italia Ristorante in the Foodland Shopping Center. The food is very good and reasonable.

Our experience was very good, and we would return to this property again. The prices seemed to be just like every other place I have been too, so I can't really comment on that.

Just a little note...another reviewer mentioned housekeeping problems, we experienced none of that during our stay.

Cheers and happy travels!

We decided to stay here for 3 nights on our two week honeymoon to Hawaii.

As an elite member and someone who indicated that he was on his honeymoon, I feel that the treatment that I got from the hotel was lacking.

When we checked in, we were not offered an upgrade, nor even congratulated for being on our honeymoon (in stark contrast to other properties that we stayed at).

The box of 4 chocolate covered macadamia nuts was a special treat though.

The rooms are recently renovated, though they put a tube tv in each room, instead of a flat panel tv. Also, it appears that they put the same old shower curtain rings (bent out of shape) back in the bathroom. Also, the shower head really needed to be descaled. My profile on marriott.com indicates that I like foam pillows, but that too "slipped" by their attention.

Upon speaking to the manager on duty the night we checked in, after being told twice that there were no upgrades available, we were told that there was an oceanfront room available, better than the oceanview room (which is code for "partial ocean view"). The upgraded room only had a queen bed though (why?). Since we had unpacked already we declined it at that point. I give the manager credit because she wound up sending us a nice basket of goodies to make up for the lackluster treatment.

Now the adult pool was a bright spot - it's a gorgeous infinity pool that just opened. There is a no cellphone use policy around the pool (but it's mostly ignored and unenforced). Also - Anita the waitress at the pool was fantastic.

Overall, had this not been our honeymoon, everything would have been fine - but as an elite member and honeymooner, I felt like a number.

“Nice Resort, Horrible Serivce!”

Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa

I just returned from staying at this property and it had it's pluses and minuses. First let me talk about the pluses. The new adult pool is one of the nicest pools I've ever been too. Not to mention the servers at the pool knew your name and were extremely friendly, I can't see enough good things about that.

Service: The reviewer who left a review on here from May 1st nailed it on the head. I received the same exact experience. When I pulled my car up, the bell hop was quick to great us. When I told him I can handle my lugguge myself, he said "that's not the way we do things here". I insisted and to say the bell hop was rude was an understatement. I then noticed when other people arrived, and used the service of the bell hop, they were greeted with shell necklaces that were put around their neck etc.... I've stayed at many hotels in Hawaii, shouldn't everyone get the same greeting, regardless if you use the bell hops or not? Leaving the property I encountered the same horrible service. I took my luggage down myself, pulled the car up and at this point, most high end hotels the bell hop will come to your car and at least offer to help you. Not here, there were three of them just looking at me and my wife and didn't want to move a muscle. I didn't need their help getting my luggage into the car but we did have a lot of stuff and for what they charge at this hotel, it should have at least been offered because we had some big suitcases. I thought them just standing there watching us put all this stuff in the car with out even coming over to see if we needed help was pretty poor.

As far as check-in goes, I had the same exact situation, however I caught the front desk agent by surprise. I am a travel agent and I knew all the different rates going in there. He offered to uprade me for the $75 as they do everyone else. However there was a rate where I could have been upgraded for $24. When I asked about that rate it magically came up. Shouldn't the front desk agent say to the guest, "let me see if we have other rates available to get you into a better room". When I asked him why he wanted to charge me $75 when there was a rate that was only $24 more, he was like "ahh, ahha, ahhh" and just didn't know what to say. I could tell he was embarassed but that's fine with me because I'm sick and tired of places like that trying to rip you off and not tell you ALL your options.

As far as the rooms, they were just o.k. if you ask me. Would I stay there again, just for the great pool I might. But they really need a lesson on service because I'm not that picky but some of the things I saw there was not up to par for the type of resort they try to promote.

My wife and I stayed here using Marriott Rewards points, and we're very impressed with the hotel. Having undergone an extensive remodel, the hotel is very nice. Since I'm a Platinum member, my wife and I got a nice upgrade to an oceanfront room right behind the new Serenity pool. Awesome views of the sunset! Traveling for work DOES have it's benefits.

The pool is one of the nicest we've experienced, second only to the Four Seasons infinity pool in Nevis. If you like relaxing poolside and getting a tan, it doesn't get much better than this! The cabanas and canopied beds at the pool are extra cost ($50 and $20 respectively) but are worth it if you stay most of the day. One thing you should know is that the pool is restricted to adults 18 and over. We love kids, but I do admit it was nice to enjoy the pool without kids screaming and splashing in the water!

My wife got a chance to experience the Mandara Spa on the property, and she loved the hot stone massage. It was one of the best treatments she had done (and she gets these quite frequently).

We were told there's some construction still going on, but it's only on the south end of the property, so it was basically unnoticed during our stay.

The walkway along the beach is a must-do, taking you past beaches and the other hotels along the ocean. A good snorkeling beach is just a few hundred yards south of the Marriott.

Shopping is conveniently located next door at the Wailea shops. ABC is a good variety store here. If you need groceries, it's just a short drive down the road to a shopping center with a Safeway and another smaller ABC store.

Hotel food we can't comment on since we ate out every meal. Our room had a refrigerator, so getting food and drink outside and bringing it back is recommended. It was nice waking up at our leisure and having breakfast out on the lanai, taking in the wonderful view.

A couple places to eat that we liked a lot in Kihei (just an 8-10 minute drive north) were:

Cafe O' Lei - Excellent sushi and sashimi. The braised shortrib entree was spectacular as well.

Da Kitchen - Cheap local eatery, same building as Cafe O' Lei. The portions are huge so you can probably split a main and an appetizer between two people.

All in all, a great choice for a hotel in the best location in Maui.

I just came home after a lovely 4 night stay at the Wailea Marriott.

I arrived first thing in the morning after taking a red eye flight on Hawaiian Airlines from Las Vegas that worked out really well. It was an easy drive from the airport and after reading the reviews here knew to choose self park instead of valet. Check in was easy but because it was still early, our room was not available yet although front desk did note my request for a high room and said she would find me a room in the tower. I was asked whether I wanted to upgrade for an additional fee but declined. We gave our luggage to the bell desk to store and headed to the pool.

The serenity pool is just lovely, just as everyone else has said. They do not allow cell phone use and I have seen it enforced a couple of times, which is nice.

Our room was ready about 2pm and I was given a room on the 5th floor with a partial view of the ocean. Room was spacious and nicely decorated and I found the bed SUPER comfortable!!! I loved it!!!

The $25 mandatory resort fee included two mai tais during our stay, self parking, and two bottles of water per day as well as certain discounts. It would have been nice to include internet service as that was an additional $12.95/day.

We had room service one night and it was pretty good and we had lunch at the pool grill twice and really enjoyed our lunches there.

The one thing that was missing was a coffee shop as I like to just grab a coffee and pastry in the morning. Luckily the Shops at Wailea were so close we could just walk over there in the mornings. The staff said that a Starbucks is coming in July on the property so that will be a huge plus.

All in all it was a wonderful and relaxing stay and I would stay here again.
