“Fantastic Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

This place was simply fantastic. My girlfriend and I stayed her for 5 days 4 nights in one of their suites and were blown away. First off, the scenery is amazing. You walk through the open air lobby and you are standing in paradise. We took advantage of everything they had - from their 2 restaurants (one up scale and the other a pool side bar and grill), world-class spa (first massage I've ever had but pretty sure this is as good as it gets), 3 pools (infinity ones between the hotel and the ocean), and location (smack between 2 great beaches with amazing snorkeling spots). There might be better options out there depending what you want, but there is really nothing I was disappointed with.

The Marriott is a great value in Wailea! Upon arrival, we were immediately upgraded by the front desk to a large king suite with partial ocean view, at literally a fraction of the rates for comparable suites at the Four Seasons or Grand Wailea.

The Marriott suite was the most modern and updated of any we've seen in several trips to Maui. . The pools, hot tubs and grounds were nice, service was generally excellent, and access to the nearby Ulua and Wailea beaches was easy. We snorkeled at Ulua's north end and followed a sea turtle around for half an hour. And Wailea beach is one of the widest, longest, and softest in all of Maui.

Best of all, the Marriott has a laid back and comfortable feel, in sharp contrast to the noise, bright lights and teeming crowds at the Grand and Four Seasons. If you want a Vegas or LA or Waikiki vibe, go there.... If you want Maui, go to the Marriott!

Room Tip: We stayed on the 5th floor of the tower, which is the closest part of the hotel to Ulua beach.

My wife and I just returned from a one week trip to Maui. We were fortunate to stay at this Marriott Property. We experienced exceptional service, clean rooms, and great food. We are a very active couple and did not spend much time at the hotel, but the time there was great. We were always greeted in a friendly manor and when we returned from a long day out surfing or diving the room was clean and the bed was comfy. I was a little scared when I read reviews about this hotel, however once arriving I realized that these people must either be crazy or from other hotels trying to lower the score of the Wailea Beach Marriott. My wife did use the Spa and was not too happy with it but we quickly got over it.

We had a lovely view of the ocean, extremely comfortable beds, great bathroom configuration -- so helpful for the 3 girl road trip. The hotel brings in local artists, fun & convenient. Each pool as a pool side concierge who can help book outside excursions. I will stay here again!

Room Tip: Ocean front rooms have lovely balconies and views!

We decided to take a long weekend and stay at the Marriott Wailea, we used points for our stay. Upon arriving, there is a self park garage which is a short walk to the reception area. The hotel is situated above the ocean so as you walk up you see the beautiful view. Check in was efficient, friendly and we were given a free upgrade to a partial ocean view room but unfortunately it was over the restaurant and facing the pool so it was very, very noisy until the wee hours. So we asked to move to a quieter room, we still had an ocean view but it was set further back and overlooked the reception area but it was by far so much quieter. The hotel has two pools and an accessible trail that winds around the coast, past some beaches and coves for easy snorkeling. This hotel is not on the beach but rather perched above it. They offer a luau and have several restaurants, we did not try them. We did use the gym and it was well equipped. It has a Starbucks on the property and is conviently located to shops (shoes, ice cream, luxury brands, food) and is a short drive (5 minutes or less) from Monkeypod Kitchen. Waliea is just south of Kihei so being mid island it is a good location for sighseeing in either direction. This hotel is in a beautiful location and is very clean. It's Hawaii so luxury hotel prices are high and I believe this is a category 7 Marriott. I do think some of the steep room rates are for location and ammenities as the rooms are nice, clean but very simple, nothing luxurious about the rooms.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the pools or close to the restaurant/bar.

We stayed in wailea 4 nights and kaanapali 4 nights. Wish we could get a do-over in wailea! No beach, nasty rooms (and we were in one of the better ones -- an ocean-facing), and average to poor food. Finally, I've NEVER slept on a worse mattress, even in Southeast Asia.
