“Beautiful Hotel on Maui”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

The Wailea Beach Marriott is top notch. From the minute we arrived we were treated like gold, especially by FRANK HILL, front desk manager. He came over to welcome us and immediately started recommending sites, good restaurants, etc. Whenever her saw us, it was like we were friends forever. He is an asset to the hotel. The property itself if out of this world. We loved the eternity pool, which is adults only, and the staff in that area was also very attentive. There were a few restaurants on the property which were great, including Dukes. The hula pie is delicious! Would definitely recommend this resort for a beautiful vacation stay.

I stayed at the Marriott at Wailea Beach in March of 2013. The hotel is large and impressive with great views and a wonderful staff. It was reasonably priced. But, be warned, Maui is not a cheap date! I had breakfast at the hotel only once because it really was overpriced, $16 for continental breakfast. Burgers and drinks by the pool were what I expected, about $10 to $12 each. The restaurants at the resorts in this area are some of the best on Maui. If you want to spend some bucks on a great meal, I recommend Alan Wong's Amasia. If you're into snorkeling or scuba, the location is perfect. Molokini crater is great for both snorkeling and scuba and boats leave daily from nearby resorts.

Room Tip: If you're on your honeymoon, get the ocean view. Otherwise, spend your money on some great meal...

We visited Maui and the Marriott March 9-15, and I was very pleased with my choice of this property. Our experience was positive from the start. I called in advance and asked for a room by the adult pool and was pleasantly surprised that they gave us an upgrade to an ocean front room. In addition, Judy at the front desk was the sweetest, most helpful person and went out of her way for us during our entire stay. In fact, we found all of the staff to be super friendly and helpful starting with the bellman, Matt. Other notables were the waitresses out at the pool. They were friendly and energetic, and absolutely ran their butts off trying to keep up.
ROOMS:
I know there have been some complaints about the bathrooms but the one in our room I thought was nicely updated and the nicest component of the room. The room itself was perfectly fine. No, it's not fancy, but it was clean and well-maintained. We don't spend much time in the room on vacation, so I don't really get what all the fuss is about. I was worried about the bed because we sleep on memory foam at home, but it was very comfortable
PROPERTY:
The grounds and the common areas of this resort were awesome. The landscaping was beautiful and well-maintained. We especially liked the adult Serenity pool. In addition, even though the resort was supposedly booked, it never felt crowded.
FOOD:
The breakfast buffet was included with our room, so we ate there every day. It was fairly standard breakfast fare, much like you would find at a Vegas breakfast buffet. Breakfast food is breakfast food-- I'm not sure how you make that "special." Would I pay $28 pp for it? Probably not. I wouldn't pay that in Vegas either. We had lunch almost every day at the pool and thought most everything we had was pretty good.
SUMMARY:
While this property doesn't have the glitz of the Grand Wailea, it is also half the price. We thought staying here was a lovely experience and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We recently spent 7 nights at the Wailea Beach Marriott, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The grounds are lovely, staff very friendly, and the room was spacious.

Value:
I can't speak to value, since we cashed in rewards points to pay for our stay. The only room charge that we had was the $30 (plus tax) resort fee, which covered parking and some discounts on drinks and restaurant charges.

The Room:
We were upgraded due to Platinum Elite status to a one bedroom suite. We had booked a garden view room and the suite that we received was garden view. We could, however, see the ocean in the distance if we were sitting on one of the two lanais. The suite was a good size with living room, separate bedroom, and 1.5 baths. The bathtub was a deep soaking tub that I would have loved to pack home in my suitcase. There was a larger lanai off the living room plus a smaller (two chairs and table sized) lanai off the bedroom. Our kids slept on a rollaway and the sofa bed and they said that they were terrible. The king sized bed was very low to the ground, which took some getting used to especially on mornings that I was stiff from too much boogie boarding the day prior. It was very soft and had very nice sheets. (Both positives for us as we like a soft bed and are sheet snobs.) The room had a refrigerator (empty) and a coffee maker. If you like good coffee, bring your own.

The Hotel:
We did not spend much time at the hotel – there were too many other fun things to do on the island and too many beaches to sample. We never made it to the beach near the Marriott. We walked along the ocean front path once. What we saw of the grounds, though, we liked. I liked that there were washers and dryers available so that we could pack lightly. They were a tad expensive, though, at $3+ per wash and $3+ per dry. Our daughter ordered room service one night and she thought it was good. We ate at Mala one night, and thought it was OK. Not fantastic, but definitely edible. Service was good and so were drinks. Starbucks on site was handy.

The Location:
The Wailea location is nice, very near Shops at Wailea, and a good central location for exploring a lot of what Maui has to offer. I can’t imagine fighting Lahaina traffic every day. We went to Lahaina a few times during our trip and luckily we avoided traffic both times by choosing when to go carefully. We went mid morning and traffic was backed up coming out of Lahaina, and then when we left Lahaina in late afternoon traffic was backed up returning. So, if you visit Lahaina it seems that you can avoid a lot of the traffic by planning carefully.

Overall:
I would definitely go back. The $30 resort fee is a bummer, but it seems to be harder to avoid resort fees these days. The property was very nice and the room was perfect for our needs.

Was here for 1 week, Mar-Apr 2013. Beautiful hotel and grounds, good friendly service and housekeeping, 2 fantastic beaches w/snorkeling short walks away, many more short drives away. Pools wonderful but crowded(spring break). Introductory scuba class(free) was good. Very good kids' pool, very good luau on grounds. Excellent view from oceanfront rooms. Poolside restaurant food very good. Mall with general stores and groceries a short walk away. Breakfast buffet ($30!!) very good if included in package. Pancakes a la carte $14.
A few complaints: ever-annoying resort fee($30/day!!), somewhat weak drinks at poolside restaurant cost $12, if you have a resort credit what it can be used for is very limited, dinner restaurant is good but not great(entrees $35++). Laundry available, $3.50 a load.

Room Tip: Avoid kid's pool area if you want quiet. Go near it with little kids. Luau is to south of sout...

First, I have to say that Wailea is a beautiful, quiet part of the island of Maui. We had not been to Maui in approximately 20 year, and it has dramatically changed from a quiet place to max. tourism. Except for Wailea. Everyone at the resort were very nice and very accommodating. Unfortunately, I had to make last minute changes in our reservations, having just recently had surgery that required disability access to a room. They readily made the changes necessary for me to go on the trip. Also, they were very helpful after we arrived. Our grandson enjoyed having a children's pool , separate from the adults pools, which there were several. The arrangement of the lodging is also very nice, being in multiple buildings. The primary restaurant, I think is called "Mala" and highly rated by Zagat's. Breakfast buffets were very nice, and 1/2 price for Seniors. We ate all of our suppers there, and had no complaints about the service , food, or wine. Although things were a little pricey, I came to the conclusion that everything on Maui was pricey. My daughters, definitely enjoyed the beaches and snorkeling. Said it was great. They have an excellent activities desk, which we utilized to the extreme. No complaints, other than I would not repeat the "Road trip to Hana". I wanted to do that, it wasn't their suggestion. Should have gone to Haleakla (sp?) crater or around the mountain, would have been more photogenic.

Room Tip: Ocean view is always the best.

We had a great stay at the Marriott in Wailea in March of 2013. We stayed with our children ages 5 & 8. Our rate included breakfast which was great. The restaurant had a large buffet that included an omelet bar, fresh juice and local treats as well. The kids pool was great! It included 2 water slides & a water playground. Our kids loved it. There was also an adult pool with an infinity pool that overlooked the ocean. The property is pretty spread out, so be prepared to get some exercise. There is a beach that is shared with the Grand Wailea. You can rent chairs & umbrella's from the pool activity desk. I think it was $25/day. There is a $30/day resort fee, but there is no getting away from that. You can easily walk to the shops next door. Happy hour drink specials. There is also a Starbucks in the hotel!
