The rooms here were overpriced and not on par with other Fairmont resorts - not a luxury room at all. We were in a renovated room that looked like something you would expect at a Hilton. The decor was terrible. The furniture looked cheap. The bathroom was the nicest part but there wasn't even a whirlpool tub. The robes were cheap - not nice terrycloth robes. We too had bugs in our room. the service was good. Nick's fishmarket was great. The management wasn't that great...the manager actually admitted to us that 20% of their guests had the same opinion we did and complained. He offered to call the 4 Seasons and see if they had any availability for us!!! What manager would do that. After much argueing about how unhappy we were I got a complimentary spa treatment (the spa is lame) and we got dinner at Cafe Ciao on the hotel. The room that is featured online at their website says it's a standard suite, but we found out it's their extra special suite...very misleading! For 600 bucks a night it's totally overpriced. I expected much more! We were on our honeymoon and people gave us very nice complimentary things everywhere we went. We had come from the Hilton on the Big island which was half the price and much nicer suites plus we got breakfast and snacks included! The Hilton sent us a bottle of Moet champagne and cheese and fruit tray since we were honeymooners. You know what you get at the Fairmont - a lame picture frame! We will stay at the Four Seasons next time - the rooms there are nicer and the service is much better.
