For almost a year before our honeymoon I had been reading reviews on this website. I chose the Kea Lani, partially because of the good things people had to say about it.
We were at the Fairmont from Sept. 18-24 after spending 4 horrible nights at the Waikiki Parc on Oahu. The Fairmont was wonderful! The grounds are immaculate, the food is fabulous, and the staff are extremely helpful and courteous. We stayed in an oceanview suite after a complimentary upgrade from mountainview, and were simply thrilled by the accomodations and the gorgeous view.
We received a bottle of champagne and picture frame in our suite the first night we arrived, and enjoyed the champage on the balcony. (One hint, we went into Kihei and bought juices, rum, etc. and mixed our own drinks at night, drinks at the resort are very pricy, but make sure you try a lava flow, you wont be dissapointed!! ) The best view in the resort was from our balcony and we tried to catch the sunset and torch lighting each night we were there.
The 3 pools are all very well maintained and we could always find a lounge any time of day. Usually cabanas would be reserved, but we would rather be in the sun. The beach was nice, we snorkled near the hotel and saw beautiful blue and yellow fish only about 8 ft out into the ocean.
We highly recommend the road to Hana (buy the cd to play while you drive, it tells you were the waterfall are. You will need to hike to see some, so dont wear sandals like I did!), and Haleakala at sunrise, what a view!!!
We checked out the four seasons and Grand Wailea while we were there and were sure we made the right choice honeymooning at the Kea Lani. I really hope we get the chance to go back someday, It was an amazing trip!!
Ps. Take a word of advice, if your honeymooning and want to see paradise, Do Not stay on Waikiki beach and avoid Honolulu. Its a beautiful, clean city, but is a city and is very loud, very early. The people are also much nicer on Maui.
