“Excellent front desk response to issue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2014

I agree with all of the recent positive reviews.

We stayed here from Jan. 18-24, 2014. When I was checking in late Sat. night the computers were down at the front desk. I was preassigned a room on the 4th floor facing Haleakala and the parking lot which was not what I was expecting. I told the front desk manager (Chris Chung) that I had asked for a top floor room facing the ocean at the time of the reservation more than 6 months earlier and I had contacted the meeting organizer 2 days earlier to confirm. He said he couldn't confirm this and there was no room to switch us to for the whole stay.

I started getting upset and then the computers came back on. He was then able to see that there were notes in my reservation confirming what I had told them. He really wanted to make it up to us and did find the top floor room we were expecting (and let us still use the lower contracted run of house meeting rate). Then, on the second day we came back to the room to a bottle of wine with a fruit, cheese and cracker spread. Chris followed up with a phone call to make everything was going well.

I am really glad that everything worked out and we were very happy with our entire stay. The housekeeper that came to our room every day was so very nice too! This is the only resort I ever want to come to in all of Hawaii. The large suites just can't be beat!! Ultimately the service was just what I expected and I won't hold the hiccup at check-in against them :)

Room Tip: We had a connected room, but never heard the other people at all. I like top floors here so you don...

My friend and I did many activities during our stayon Maui. The wonderful women who work at the concierge desk were an enormous help to us. The lady who works at the Avis desk knew just which car for me. What a great help she was because some of the new cars have so many gadgets I don't feel safe driving them. One of the other ladies gave me such great advice to stay safe watching the 50' waves on the north shore.
And in particular Patty Scofield was terrific. She helped me so many times with excellent advice. I always felt comfortable asking Patty to help me with any concern . What a big help she was in making our trip such a superb vacation! Also I would like to encourage visitors to try the canoe experience. The 2 men who took 4 of us out to canoe provide the 4 of us with a great time. As with any great hotel the staff at the Fairmont Kea Lani is a primary reason for the success of the hotel

Aloha and thank you for your review. We're so happy our concierge team provided great tips on how to (safely) explore the island. It's also wonderful to learn that you enjoyed the outrigger canoe experience. We will be sure to share your kind comments with Pat and the concierge team. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you on your next staycation!

get ready for the sunsets, they don't get better anywhere. rooms are very comfortable, staff are friendly, beach is very nice but not the Caribbean, as with everything in Hawaii things are very pricey. Both Maui and the big island could use some money invested in their airports, they don't welcome you with a very good impression. 6 hours difference from the east coat needs to be planned for. be sure to experience both sides of the island and see for yourself the large difference in climate. explore the many hidden waterfalls.

Room Tip: while expensive seriously consider the cost for a ocean view or front room as the sunsets are specta...

Just came back from spending 12 glorious nights at the Fairmont and can't wait to go back. We had a beautiful ocean view suite, the property is magnificent with a casual feel (not stuffy like some) and the staff is super friendly. We spent most days at the adult pool, where we received great poolside service. The restaurants at the hotel are great and they have a nice deli for when you don't want to eat out. The hotel is within walking distance to the shopping center and other hotels and restaurants. This is our new favorite place in the world!

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views, any room with an ocean view will be nice.

Spent 7 wonderful and luxurious nights at the Fairmont in January in an ocean view spacious suit. This trip was extremely special to us as my husband is going through cancer treatments and needed a relaxing vacation. The Fairmont experience was beyond our expectations. We had visited Maui a couple of years ago and stayed at the Westin. The experience at the Fairmont was far superior on every level and if you are considering a Maui vacation we strongly suggest the Fairmont Hotel experience.
We arrived at about 5:30 pm and were welcomed by a spectacular orange and pink sunset which we thoroughly enjoyed during the check in process as the open air lobby overlooks the ocean and pool area. The lobby includes beautiful plants, a fountain, and a lounge area that won't disappoint.
The suit was incredibly beautiful and comfortable and the view of the ocean and the hotel property was breathtaking. Spacious balconies include a nice size table which makes a lovely dining experience. We enjoyed many Maui sunsets with cocktails from our balcony. The king size bed was extremely comfortable and we woke each morning to an amazing view of the ocean. The bathroom is also very spacious as it includes two sinks, a great tub and a wonderful marble shower. We took advantage of the refrigerator and microwave and enjoyed the Kerig coffee maker. The housekeeping did not disappoint as they did a wonderful job cleaning each day and the staff is very friendly and warm. The bath products are lovely and they are extremely generous with the products.
The beach and pool areas are both lovely and never felt crowded as the property is vast. The beach area is a private cove and it is beyond beautiful. We enjoyed the beach chairs and umbrellas on many occasions which is complimentary. It was easy to get chairs each day and the friendly guys would move our umbrella to provide us additional shade whenever we asked. Another wonderful pool/beach feature is the complimentary sunscreen which is always available at each pool and the beach area. I also really enjoyed that we could always get as many towels as we wished at several different convenient stations. The friendly pool staff is always available for drinks and snacks and cold cloths. The Fairmont's location is perfect. Each morning we enjoyed a jog along the beach path which is a gorgeous mile and a half along the shore. We also took several walks along the path in front of the hotel and upon each return a particularly sweet doorman offered us cold water bottles.
The internet was fast and reliable and was included in the resort fees. The service was wonderful and exceeded our expectations. The week was pure heaven and the only bad part was saying goodbye to this heavenly vacation. Mahalo to the Fairmont. We hope to visit this amazing property in the future.

Spent 6 nights at the Fairmont in January at in a deluxe ocean view suit. What a great stay. The room was spacious and comfortable enough for four adults. The view was spectacular (I was a little nervous based on previous reviews of the view from the rooms). Service was exceptional! We spent most of our time at the beach but did use the pools and both were great. Ate breakfast at the buffet every morning and it filled us up for a long time. The food was fresh and delicious. Area is very nice. I ran or walked evey day along the shore by all the hotels in the area, trail is very nice and scenic! Washers and driers on each floor were a big help and free! Two people in our party did use the spa for a massage and said it was fabulous. Would recommend this hotel and will be returning on our next visit to Maui. If I was to be really picky I would say the self parking was a little tight and our rental car ended up with a few dings on it so beware!

This is a long overdue review, but was such a wonderful experience, we wanted to share it. What a laid-back feel in an upscale hotel!
Service - We celebrated our engagement here and were treated extremely well! We received a room upgrade upon arrival and they offered us two choices. The bellman escorted us to the first room, which was gorgeous, but I was very curious to see our other option. He carted our luggage all the way across the hotel (literally) with a smile and showed us the other room. I liked the first one better and he graciously carted our luggage all the way back to the first room. When we arrived, there was a special note and small variety of desserts that said "congratulations" in chocolate. From the beginning, we could tell it was the little things that left a huge impression. Every staff member was very courteous and the concierge desk provided great recommendations for our adventures off the property. They provided towels, cooler and maps to take with us. Service was great all around!
Rooms - Nice, remodeled, huge suites that had beautiful bathroom. We liked having the fridge and separate living room as well.
Grounds - Beautiful! Tiki torches at night created such an amazing ambiance.
The pools were not overly crowded and we didn't have to play the "towel game" every morning. We spent each day at the adult pool, which was beautiful, relaxing and quiet.
Excellent location, as it's right on a non-crowded beach. We ran each morning along the paved path by the ocean. We also watched the magnificent sunset every afternoon right on the beach with our own beverages and snacks in hand. Close to shops and other great restaurants. Check out Monkey Pod (fun, lively environment) and Ferraro's (sunset, the most amazing dining experience we have ever, ever, ever had).
The other guests were friendly. We met several couples that were returning guests, and we can see why.
The restaurants were really good. We enjoyed the open-air dining at Ko and Nick's. The breakfast buffet was awesome!! When booking, try to get this included. It's worth it. Café was nice to go to for a quick bite or gourmet coffee.
Overall, it was an amazing, romantic, relaxing (and adventurous) trip. We would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking to stay in Maui!!
A big THANK YOU to the staff for making this such a memorable vacation!
