“Loved our stay- will be back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2009

Stayed for 3 nights at the four seaons. What a great time. great deal.

We checked in seamlessly. upgraded to ocean view room (really a partial view). champagne welcome. The entry area is beautiful and well designed. Leis upon arrival. Juice and coffee out for free. Business center at the entry area with 5 computers and lots of printers.

The room was spacious and very clean. Typical four seasons bathroom with a huge soaking tube, glass shower. double sinks. marble everywhere. The L'Occtaine bottles were huge- they replenish twice a day, so hide them and they leave more- so great. Had piped in music of your choice- we listened to Hawaiian music almost exclusively. Robes in room nice. Wet bar area with clear refrigerator- you can bring your own, or you can order packages for the mini bar.

The bed was nice and sheets so nice. The TV large, AC and fan nice (especially after staying in Hana and No AC!). The living area was adequate. Had plantation shutters, so some light came in in the morning. The balcony was very nice- kind of an angle view of the ocean, but still nice. Could not hear the ocean. heard neighbors only once...

They turn down the rooms with foot slippers, bed turned down and music playing.

The restaurants were less impressive at the hotel- ate at Duo- was pretty much just like Ruths Chris, but not as good. The breakfast brunch was very good, but expensive. Made to order omlettes and waffles. At 6pm they had a guy go around blowing a shell and lighting all of the torches- very nice. Sunsets were gorgeous. the itialian restaurant has a better ocean and sunset view.

The beach was wonderful. They will put out chairs and umbrellas for you. there was almost no one at the hotel when we were there and had absolutely no trouble getting chairs at the beach or pool. they come around with water and fruit and juice throughout the day. They have free snorkels and snorkeling along the rocks on the left have some great fish and we saw 5 sea turtles! They also have paddle boards and you can go on an outrigger canoe as well. There is a 2 mile paved walkway along the edge of the beach from one end of the resort row to the other- ran it twice and it was absolutley beautiful and neat to see the back of the other resorts. Run in the morning- already hot and humid.

The pool was undergoing renovations from 2-5pm- did not use at all. The relaxation pool for adults only looked very peaceful and nice with great views. We couldn't find a pool or jacuzzi to use after 6pm- they appeared to close... Tube in the room worked fine.

The shops were reasonable. Had a wonderful pedi/mani. Did not use the spa. There is an activity room with pool tables, Wii and PS2/3 and guitair hero avaialble with a large TV for sports. There are outdoor exercise equipment and a private room for training.

We spent a lot of time away from the resort too- ate at the Waterfront- very good. Ate at the Pineapple grill- very nice, but long drive. Went on a triology trip to Lanai- the best snorkeling ever. It was a drive to each place, and going 40 pmh is hard to get used to even after a week. Also went surfing at Lihue (rented a board and brought our own rash guard- beginners) and did lots of shopping there. Also more upscale shopping at the grand wailea- did not go there

Definately would come back in a heart beat and would stay only at the four seasons- it was the best by far!

We went to celebrate our 25th wedding Anniversary and decided to split the 6 days at 2 resorts. One was Starwood Sheraton and the other Four Seasons. I can only say that I would rather have gone for ONLY the 3 nights at Four Seasons and bagged the Sheraton!

Since we were celebrating we had a bottle of champagne on ice upon our arrival with a very nice card.

Everything is first class, the location, the rooms (large), ambiance, service, restaurants (Wolfgang Puck's Spago has fantastic food), morning yoga, HUGE breakfast, top of the line gym, the renowned SPA. The pool area is class by itself. Friendliest staff await you with arms full of towels to layout your seating of choice. Jars of sun screen around the pool for your use, on the house. They spoil you rotten by bringing little treats every couple of hours, i.e., cold towels and cucumber slices for your eyes, chilled water refilled every time you take two sips, ice lollies, Rice Krispies treats. If all that was not enough you can have a mini SPA treatments of your choice right there (this one you have to pay for). No nickel and diming here.

One night we went to dinner at another hotel about a mile away and the Concierge very sweetly told us to let the valet know and he would be happy to take us there in the hotel car and when done he would return to pick us up! I call that service.

Since all rooms are exactly the same I would recommend one not pay for the partial ocean view rooms - splurge on the SPA instead.

Stupendous!

Since life is not supposed to be perfect.............

Our negative was a dinner at Ferraro (the Italian Restaurant) which has a fabulous location by the water. The food was TERRIBLE. How can you ruin a pasta and a pizza? Next day I mentioned our experience to the Concierge, which she apparently took very seriously, and within an hour the Manager from the Restaurant called and apologized and comped the dinner!

A CLASS ACT

We stayed for nine nights in the FS on our honeymoon. We where upgraded on arrival. The sevice, the staff, the location, the rooms, the sunset, the infinity pool, duo, ferraros, the outrigger canoe, the yoga, the gym, the weather, the poolside treats, the free car to and from anywhere in wailea, the spa, everything is brilliant, incredible, superb, class. This is where all hotel managers should be sent to show them how to run a hotel, what it actually takes to have people write reviews like this. Thankyou four seasons for making our honeymoon one to remember forever. I gaurantee that when you are checking out, with all the extras that you get complimentary, the price is incredible. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you..............

This is the first time we've ever stayed at the Four Seasons in Maui.

Positives:
+ Staff is super-friendly, from the welcome lei greeting to our departure. Their staff just looks happy to be there and ready to help, unlike some other hotels where the staff seems always stressed out and too busy. The 4S staff always seems to greet you first so that you don't have to look for them. When you have twin toddlers like we do, this is especially helpful. I remember getting out to the beach area with one toddler in one hand and a heavy beach bag in the other, and my wife was in the same predicament. What a relief to have two of the staff welcome us and ask us if they could help set up chairs for us on the beach! Same wonderful experience at the kiddie pool area!
+ Our children (2 1/2 year old twins at the time) were treated very well. The hotel staff went over the top to make sure they were comfortable. They provided us with fruit platters every day in our room (at no charge) instead of their regular snacks, because our boys have food allergies and can't have wheat. They provided us with a microwave. They had robes just for them and they both rec'd stuffed animals along with other toys. When we had drinks in the lobby lounge, they made sure the boys had crayons and paper. I can't remember all the things they did for our kids, but I do especially remember the staff spelling out our twin sons' names in sponge letters over the tub.
+ As it should be, most activities and other amenities at the hotel are included in the cost of your stay. I took a yoga class by the beach. It's nice to do yoga in the morning on the sand with the fresh air and waves just a few feet away. Their gym equipment is top notch. (The treadmills overlook the patio or you can watch TV. It's nice to look at something when you're running on a treadmill. The weight room is separate and tucked behind, but it has an adequate mix of free weights and machines).. The pool cabanas and beach lounge chairs are complimentary too!
+ Beach and pool areas are beautiful and well-maintained! Views of the ocean from the kiddie pool area is still amazing.
+ All the small details. Complimentary sliced pineapple and other fruit were passed out along with water throughout the day at the pool and beach areas. Our room always seemed to have been cleaned, even if we were only away for an hour or so. The staff always addressed our sons, in addition to us. The valets always asked us if we needed any directions or any additional items for our day trips.

Negatives:
- $$$$ (but it's worth it).
- When you stay at other hotels after staying at the Four Seasons in Maui, you realize how incredible the Four Seasons Maui is and you can't go back to regular Maui hotels. This happened during our most recent trip to Maui (Sept 2009). We stayed at a very reputable, decent 4 star hotel in Kaanapali. But that's just it. It's a decent 4 star hotel. It's not the Four Seasons.

Try the Four Seasons in Maui sometime. You'll notice the difference.

We're already trying to plan a trip back to the Four Seasons (Maui) in Spring or Fall 2010.
--------------------------
Btw, during our most recent trip to Maui (Sept 2009), we did dine at the Four Seasons twice with some friends who were staying there. The tab is pricey, but the experience is well worth it and views are just amazing from their restaurants! Our friends had a 2 year old and a 1 year old. We had twin 3 year olds. The staff was incredibly accommodating and VERY ATTENTIVE to our children, especially ours with the food allergies. They checked back regularly to make sure that the children were doing okay with the specially prepared food. Also, they didn't make us feel uncomfortable when our children made spills, as most children will do. Some restaurants fail miserably in accommodating small children, especially those with food allergies, but not the Four Seasons Maui. The staff at Duo and Ferraro's are amazing!!!

My husband and I stayed at the resort to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We had planned this trip almost a year in advance so suffice it to say our expectations were high. I can say with all honesty that we were not disappointed. From the time we checked in, we felt like royalty. The property itself is beautiful (now I know what paradise looks like), and the staff was to be admired for their courtesy and attention to detail. We ate at each of the onsite restaurants several times and were always pleased (our least favorite was Spago). We opted to rent a cabana at the new Serenity Pool for a couple of days and, while we enjoyed the novelty of the experience, I think they still need to work out some details (add a few more amenities) in order to justify the expense. (Had we not had to pay in advance, we probably would have opted to utilize the free cabanas by the main pool as the service was equally as commendable - but what the heck, this trip was a celebratory event and we don't regret treating ourselves).
Since we were originally torn between booking a room at the Four Seasons or Grand Wailea, we decided to walk over to the GW (which was right next store) to see if we'd chosen wisely. We were relieved to see that we had. While I can't speak for the service at the GW the "theme park" feel of the property was a bit of a turn off.
During our stay, my husband and I renewed our vows on Wailea beach. Since we only wanted a very intimate sunset service for 2, we opted to hire an independant company (Pacific Isle Weddings - great job, by the way) to handle the service as the hotel's price was significantly higher (understandably, of course - it is the Four Seasons). Despite this, on the day of our anniversary, I can't tell you the number of employees who were kind enough to wish us Happy Anniversary. The pool staff even bought us complimentary glasses of champagne!
One last note, take advantage of the Outrigger canoe program that the resort offers. It's complimentary (but you need to sign up), fun and interesting. The guides that run it are knowledgeable and entertaining.
All in all, this was as close to a perfect vacation as I have ever had (and we've been blessed through the years to have many great ones). I actually had tears in my eyes at checkout when I realized we had to return to "reality". Thank you to all the fine people at this resort who go out of their way to make their guests' experiences special and memorable.

We stayed here for a week and loved every minute of it. The service is fantastic, our room was luxurious and the food was delish. The location is also excellent, we had perfect weather since we weren't on the rainy side of the island. The hotel's pool and beach area aren't too crowded. Nice touches, waiters came around with cold water, pineapple slices and cool towels. We pretty much ate lunch by the pool every day. The portions are large and the prices very reasonable. We had a couple of spa services which were totally worth the extra $$. All in all, this hotel cannot be beat!

Wife and I stayed 9 days recently at the Four Seasons Maui and generally had a great time. The restaurants were good, if not pricey. The new Serenity (adult only) pool was fantastic. Spa services were very good. Our only issue was the room. Given the length of our stay, we wanted to pay a little more for a slightly larger room. We ended up deciding on a partial ocean view executive suite so we'd have two separate spaces. Big mistake. These rooms are located at the back of the hotel overlooking a parking lot and the delivery entrance for the hotel. Yes, there was a sliver of ocean you could see, but you couldn't spend any time on the balcony to enjoy it with the number of deliveries. There was constant truck noise, including that annoying beeping sound when trucks back up. So as far as I can tell, they took regular rooms, where people would complain about being over the delivery entrance, and combined them to make a small suite and charge twice the normal rate. Anyway, very disappointing. We ended up spending even more money to reserve cabanas at the serenity pool to get away from the room. We'd have been better off reserving one of these cabanas each day of our stay and reserving a regular room with a better view for less money.
