“We wept when we left.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2004

We spent a week here August 8-15 as part of our honeymoon. Everyone raves about this hotel, and we really did not think it could live up to all the positives we have heard. It not only lived up to the positives, but it exceeded them. The rooms and bathrooms are huge. The grounds are kept in extraordinary condition. The food is amazing, and even though expensive, was cheaper than the Hilton Waikoloa Village and Halekulani. THe thing we could not understand is other reviewers gripes about finding chairs and cabanas. We never ever had a problem, and the hotel ws at 100% occupancy. They always found chairs for us, where we wanted them and when we wanted them. Also, after spending 5 days prior to this at the Hilton Waikoloa village, where everything down to the safe in the room included a charge, there was no additional nickel and diming. Everything, other than food is included. Don't even consider any other hotels in Maui. This is the place. The only negative is that the housekeeping in the rooms is sub par for a hotel of this level.

Bar none! After spending a week here in June, I wouldn't consider staying anyplace else in Maui. 4 Seasons exceeded our every expectation. From the moment we arrived -- exhausted from the very long flight -- we were greeted by very prof. and courteous staff and promptly wisked away to an upgraded prime ocean view room! Our view was spectacular and the weather was near perfect every day. We enjoyed a fabulous breakfast buffet evey morning before heading to the pool. We never had a problem securing poolside chaise lounges or cabanas.. as others have posted. (Though we did arrive at pool early enough one day to catch a glimpse of Angela Basset walking by!) The wait staff at the pool couldn't do enough, serving up ice water, chilled fruit, cold towels and spritzes all day long. The restaurants were all exceptional, our favorite being Ferraro's and were all priced as expected. Poolside lunch and light fare served in the cocktail lounge was excellent, if not a bit pricey (2 sandwiches, a softdrink & 1 cocktail came to $60 before tip) but that goes with the turf. Also enjoyed a few great meals (complete with live entertainment and awesome view of fireworks!) at Tommy Bahama cafe at Shops at Wailea.

My husband, Sean, submitted a review on Aug. 2nd, but left out a few things. We were there on our honeymoon and had an incredible time. After walking back from the local shopping I noticed a flowering bush that looked an awful lot like one of the flowers from my wedding boquet. After inquiring about it at the front desk, not only did I receive a phone call with the name of the flower but also a two page printout describing it (that was delivered to our room within minutes!) Sunsets were incredible from this hotel, and my husband loved the fact that there was a special number to dial just to have someone come and pick up the room service table when we were finished with it (along with the fact that room service called to ask us if it was ok if they delivered our food a few minutes early!) We are already saving our money for a return trip.

My husband and I visited the Four Seasons in Maui for our honeymoon last August and were blown away. I had researched many of the hotel reviews on this site and was impressed with all the praise. We especially enjoyed the buffet breakfast each morning, even more impressive as we rarely eat breakfast at home! The hotel staff provided lots of great recommendations from beaches to restaurants. A valet called ahead to an upscale restaurant to let them know we were on our way so we had a very warm welcome. We returned to our room and housekeeping placed a Four Seasons bookmark into a magazine I had left open. I have never before seen that level of attention in all areas of a hotel. Another plus...great bath products and an ENORMOUS bathroom.
I have stayed in several luxury hotels and this was the best experience I have EVER had.

We stayed at the Four Seaons for our honeymoon. We had very high expectations from all of the fantastic reviews and awards this resort had received. Four Seasons went well beyond all of our expectations. We have stayed at the Greenbrier before and the Four Seaons surpassed even them in many areas. The food at all of the restaurants was fantastic. The serivice at the Four Season's is unsurpassed from the valet to the concierge. Everyone there was very friendly and went out of their way to help us out with anything we needed. We saw Mike Myers(Austin Powers) around the pool a couple of times which was cool. We stayed in a Mountain View Room which still had an incredible view. The breakfast buffet is out of this world. We never had a problem getting a seat around the pool at any time. Anyone who is not happy with this hotel will not be happy anywhere! This is one of the top resorts in the world!

This place is pure paradise!! The service and attention to detail is second to none!! When we arrived, our room was not ready. Later that night, when we returned after dinner, there was a gift box and note from the manager apologizing for the inconvenience. The gift was a box of chocolate covered truffles!

My husband and I were not staying in a suite or anything close where we would expect this kind of treatment. We stayed in their cheapest room ($345.00) and joked that it was the "low rent district". Our room overlooked the road and a mountain which was fine since we were hardly in it. The furnishings and everything about the room was far from "low rent".

This hotel was a great value considering it's "The Four Seasons". Valet parking was included as well as snorkeling gear, scuba lessons, strawberries at the pool, and cabanas. I've been to other resorts which charge you for the cabanas.

Throughout the entire hotel, there was an artistic touch... flowers everywhere, pottery, candles, beautiful artwork, fabulous seating areas. The whole place is a vision of beauty. The resort literally "glowed" when you looked at it from the beach at night. It was truly inviting!!!

We had top notch service at the pool & in the restaurants. The attention to detail was so impressive we wondered how the employees kept to such high standards.

I couldn't believe there were bad reviews on this place. We had no trouble with service, noisy kids etc...

I don't know if I'll ever be able to stay at another hotel after this wonderful experience.

We just returned from a 10 day vacation in Hawaii. The first 5 days were spent in Honolulu at the Halekulani. I thought things couldn't get any better than that, but the Four Seasons in Maui was equally as wonderful! When you arrive, you are met with a lei greeting. Valet parking is free and so your car is taken care of as you check in. All of the employees call you by name--I don't know how they do it! The rooms are spectacular--you could live in the bathroom alone. We had a beautiful garden view with a private terrace where we ate breakfast some mornings. The pool area is gorgeous, as is the beach. There are private cabanas-no reservations needed--first come first serve. The pool attendants walk around with ice water, frozen fruit, cold towels, etc.--for free. They provide free scuba lessons as well as other free amenities. We never felt that we were being nickeled and dimed. The restaurants are good and have beautiful ocean views. You will be treated like royalty! Anything that you want will be taken care of---they provided us with a cooler filled with ice for a picnic lunch one day.
We visited other hotels in Maui and that only helped us to know that we made the best decison by staying at the Four Seasons. If you want a quiet, elegant, romantic, yet casual atmosphere, this is the place. There was nice mix of ages--honeymooners to families. We felt very comfortable.
It was worth every penny!
