“5 stars all the way!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2014

There are not enough accolades I can bestow on the Four Seasons, Wailea. The grounds were utterly beautiful and well-kept, the service- be it at the serenity pool (...get there early- and order the blackened fish tacos; they're sublime!), the lobby bar, those working at the front desk, at Ferraro's restaurant (the pasta's fresh, delicious and cooked perfectly al dente), the concierge and even housekeeping- was above and beyond at every turn. I mean, REALLY above and beyond! We had an ocean front, one bedroom suite that was spacious, bright and airy; the master bath was gorgeous. The open-air lobby is stunning, and the lighting at night made for an incredible ambiance. Sari at the front desk as we departed was phenomenally kind and pleasant; what a hotel, what a stay!

This was our second trip to FSM and we couldn't have been happier to go back. I read many reviews prior to our return to FSM, many people saying that 'service has slipped' in recent years or that the hotel is 'showing signs of age.' These reviewers couldn't be more wrong. We've been very fortunate to stay at several Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, and Peninsula properties, and the FSM is right up there with the best of them. I could go on and on about the beautiful grounds, outstanding service, and great food, but I thought I'd try and provide some information that I haven't seen on Trip Advisor in a while to help those trying to decide to stay at FSM, specifically about the Club Level.

The Club Level: The rooms are on the 8th floor of the building and you are provided private, key access. The rooms all have spectacular ocean views. There are 23 rooms and 2 suites on the Club Level. Yes, the price is quite a bit higher than regular rooms, but the amenities provided make it well worth the splurge. When you arrive at FSM, you are immediately escorted directly to the 8th floor club lounge, given leis, and offered a cocktail/refreshment of your choice. One of the club concierges check you in there, provide you with keys, and ensure the luggage is brought to your guest room. It was so smooth, start to finish.

During your stay, you have unlimited cocktails (which run $15-$22 by the pool), beer (~$8 at the pool), soda, water, coffee, etc. The Club Level staff will even put your cocktails in to-go cups so you can take them down to the pool with you. You are provided a beautiful continental breakfast every morning, with a rotating hot item. The breakfast included an assortment of fruit, yogurt, granola, pastries, smoked salmon, and fresh fruit juices, among other things. I never felt like I was hungry after eating breakfast there. Seeing as a breakfast at DUO can easily cost a couple $100, this felt like a big savings. There is also afternoon tea, pre-dinner appetizers, and dessert daily.

The Club Level staff...I can't being to say enough about them. Every single one of them was friendly and professional. They go out of their way to make your stay the best possible hotel experience in the world. Dinner reservations, golf reservations, anything you need they make happen. We were celebrating my parents' 30th wedding anniversary and did a vow renewal ceremony at Mama's Fish House. My Dad wanted to include a Hawaiian saying in his vows and one of the Club Level staff helped him learn how to say it and practice it with him. I hope they read this and know how much we appreciated all of their help during our stay. They're the best.

For me, one of the best features of the Club Level was the day of check out. Living in Minnesota, every time we travel to Maui we have a late, late flight (usually 11:30pm). For those who want to enjoy the resort post-check out (which is at noon) FSM offers the Aloha Suite. It's a nice room with showers, lockers, and a sitting area. It's perfectly nice and I give FSM a big thumbs-up for even having it at all. However, by the late afternoon or early evening it begins to feel really crowded and gets pretty messy. If you stay on the Club Level, on the day you check out you're given keys that allow you up to the 8th floor and you are allowed to use the club lounge for the rest of the day. If you want to hang out by the pools or eat at the restaurants, they keep your account open so you can continue to charge to it. It was awesome. It really felt like we had a whole extra day at the hotel. The Club Level is worth the cost, even just for the day of check out!

Room Tip: Splurge for the Club Level and enjoy all of the fantastic amenities.

Best ever hotel... Location, Room, service & weather was mild and sunny.
I would highly recommend this hotel, we were here for 4 days & enjoyed every minute... Breakfast the very best possible. We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary having been married on the Big Island in Hilo in 2004.
The dinner at Spago, Duo & Farrows were excellent as was the service.... We thought Spago had the most interesting favors of course!!
No need for a car the location near other hotels along the beach has lots of option.. Snorkel right out front. We have been to other 4 Season locations and this one and the Four Seasons above Kona was spectacular too!

Have been to several "WOW" resort hotels over the years. While the 4 Seasons is pretty spectacular, I wouldn't rank it in my top 3 for the WOW factor when you first walk in. Don't get me wrong, it is beautiful. But, the lobby and entrance are not as breath-taking as some others we have been to.
My wife and I both commented about that after the first day.
But, after 7 wonderful days, we agreed that the service and food here is maybe the best we have ever experienced.

Here are some of my observations:

Pools are clean, but a little dated. Water was perfect temp, though. Adult Pool was nice, but they could have set it up with more of an ocean view. chairs were tough to get after about 11 AM at the Serentity (Adult) pool, but the Main pool and beach were always available. Service around both pools was awesome. They immediately bring you ice water, and keep your glass full. Then they come around about every 45 minutes or so with other free amenities like popsicles, cucumbers and wet towels, cookies, eucalyptus towels, etc. Lounge chairs are very comfortable, and towels are good. Drink service was good, especially at the swim up bar at Serenity pool. Friendly, helpful servers with good drink specials every day. Pricey, but you ARE at the 4 seasons in Hawaii!

It's a public beach, so no bar service at the beach, which might be my only complaint about the place?

Restaurants are exquisite with out-of-this-world food! Spagos (a Wolfgang Puck restaurant) was our favorite. The lamb was close to, if not the best I've ever had. Shout out to Chad and his group for the complimentary appetizer selection. Our nephew works for Wolfgang Puck. We mentioned it to our server, and Chad, the manager, came to our table. He actually knew our nephew, which made for a nice conversation. But, I think everyone at this place gets the same great service we had. I'd hate to be the dishwasher at this place, though! Every appetizer and every course we got new plates and silverware.

Actually, some of the best things we ate were served around the pool. The appetizer combo we ordered twice, as well as the Mahi-Mahi fish tacos. Outstanding!

Breakfast buffet was amazing! Even had Dim Sun on the buffet line one day.

Really some of the best food we've ever had. The only disappointing thing was the Margherita pizza from room service. My fault for having too many Bikini Blondes out in the sun all day? Bikini Blonde is a nice, lighter ale from the Maui Brewing Company. We were supposed to visit a local Sushi place, but I couldn't answer the bell.

View from our room, 731, was lovely, but we paid for it with a looooong walk to the elevator a couple of times a day. Needed the exercise, though after all of the food and drink. Elevators were extremely fast, and always available.

Check-in and check out were a snap. Bell crew were great, and every one on the staff was well-trained, friendly and very helpful.

There is a great wakling path between the hotel and the beach. Take it to right (North) to view the other hotels, and it eventually will take you up to the Shops at Wailea, whch is an upscale($$$$) area with shops, eateries, etc. Not a huge hike at all, maybe 10-15 minutes?

Several celebrity sightings at this hotel and at the Maui airport.

All in all, this is a great place, and if can afford it, I would come back for sure!

We have tried different resorts throughout Maui and Four Seasons was recommended by a friend last year. We tried it last year and it was an excellent experience. Hands down, best resort we have ever stayed in Hawaii. We returned this year and the stay was just as nice. It is great to enjoy consistency in the quality of service as so many places seem to lack these days. The staff at Four Seasons are very friendly, helpful, attentive, and professional. We have been recommending this resort to all of our friends, and their responses were all positive. Read reviews online and they all seem to echo the same thing. This will be the only place we stay when we visit Maui.

Room Tip: Must book through Whatahotel.com as you get breakfast included and a $100 credit for food or drink a...

We just returned from 10-days in Maui and had the BEST TIME at the Four Seasons Resort in Wailea. The beauty of the resort and the quality of their staff makes this place a "10".
The rooms are large and designed for comfort. We slept every night with the screen door open to hear the waves and tropical birds. Peaceful, quite, relaxing and classy. The staff is superb and does everything possible to make certain that your experience is the best possible.
We ate at three of the four restaurants on the property and completely enjoyed every one.
Located on the beach in Wailea the weather is much better than staying on the west-side near Lahina. Each morning was started with a walk on the beach that stretches for miles. This time of year is whale-watching season and it is spectacular to walk on the beach and watch whales jumping out of the water very close to the shore....amazing!
The Four Seasons is a "world class" resort and will cost more than a typical visit to the Marriott or Hyatt. However if you want the best that vacation resorts have to offer, this is the place for you.
We loved every minute of our experience and hope to return this summer.

Room Tip: When you want the best in a high-end luxury hotel, choose the Four Seasons. The Club Room on the 8t...
