“Beautiful island, beautiful resort and wonderful service. We will be back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2011

The Four Seasons Wailea would have to be the best resort I have ever experienced from beginning to end. The staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful. When we arrived we were told we had been upgraded to a full ocean view room and this was simply stunning. It was only a standard room but it was huge for two and the bathroom seemed enormous. Being from New Zealand & Australia and having never been to the USA the prospect of tipping was ominous - who to tip, when to tip and how much! Eventually we got used to it and I can honestly say that tipping for service here is well deserved as the staff are all brilliant. It really just showed me how bad the service is back home. A friend who came to Maui at the same time but didn't want to pay the extra to stay at the Fours Seasons decided to stay at the Marriott Wailea regretted her decision after visiting us. If you love luxury and experiencing the best then there is only one choice in Wailea and that is the Fours Seasons.

My wife and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary and her birthday here for a week starting June 3rd to June 10th, 2011. I had read all of the glowing reviews on Trip Advisor about the Four Seasons before we booked last fall and our trip. I honestly had a hard time believing that all of the "over the top" reviews of the Four Seasons could be accurate.

I must tell you that I was wrong. We have been blessed to be able to travel all over the world, and without exception, the Four Seasons was the best. Best service, best accommodations, best of everything.

From the minute you arrive, you are not just another guest. You become one of the family. You hear a lot {usually hype] about living aloha on Hawaii. They do it at the Four Seasons.

Some tips from our trip.

1. We stayed on the Club floor in an upgraded room. This was an amazing value. You receive personalized service, and all 6 of the Concierges were very personable and helpful. There is breakfast, light lunch, cocktails, finger food around dinner and nightcap drinks all inclusive. Trust me; with the prices in Hawaii, this is a true bargain. We ate out each night but honestly you could skip the dinner and enjoy the fantastic service and food in the Club. If you can swing it, definitely upgrade to the Club level.

2. The hotel is stunning and the service exceptional. You can read all of the reviews already written that go into some detail about this, but all I can say is that the service is flawless. From the watermelon served as you sun bake [burn?] on the beach to the service in the Hotel, we had perfect service.

3. We ate out each night and would recommend DUO, especially the raw bar on the weekends. You cannot eat all of the seafood. We also ate at Spago and Ferraro's. I did all of the planning ahead but the concierges at the Four Seasons were a big help getting us excellent tables. I would rank the restaurants in this order; DUO, Ferraro and then Spago.

4. We also ate at the MALA in the Marriot and the food there was the best of the entire week. We also ate at Capische and I would not go back. Ruth Chris was also consistent with other one's we have eaten at.

5. We didn't really do any sightseeing this time, as we have been to Maui before. So we were, I hate to admit it. just lazy and sat at the Beach. Wailea Beach is exactly as advertised; beautiful, especially the sunsets. Heaven on earth.

I could go on and on but don't want to bore anyone. All I can say is that we went with high expectations, and they were exceeded in every respect. I can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Stay on the Club level. It is worth the extra $

This was one of the best hotels and vacations we have had, and we have traveled the world staying at five star establishments, including various other Maui hotels. The service was flawless - we were constantly greeted by our names (not sure how they all knew or remembered our names), constantly delivered gifts from the hotel (toys for our daughter, desserts for us, invitations to cocktail/appetizers, etc.), and always attended to like we were royalty. The hotel has less than 400 rooms but more staff than a competing island hotel that has 800 rooms. It's also not the kind of resort that is loud with a bunch of waterslides and running/yelling kids. There were plenty of children and the hotel was at 98% full during our stay, however, it never once felt crowded, nor was it ever loud. The hotel caters to children in every way - there is a kids room for kids to play in that is completely free and also a kids camp where parents can drop their kids off for daytime activities for free! There are fun kid buffets at the different restaurants as well, and kids under 5 eat free. Ferraros restaurant was scrumptious. We never went to Spago as we have a 2 year old, however, the view from the restaurant also looked amazing. The pool has several cabanas that are also free and there was never a rush to get the pool chairs at the crack of dawn. The hotel also offered beach activities for free - snorkeling and such. The resort itself is breathtakingly beautiful, particularly at sunset. The view from the pool/restaurants/lobby is straight out of a travel magazine. The hotel manager went above and beyond and offered us an unbelievable upgrade, which made our trip that much more pleasurable. Our family immensely enjoyed ourselves for the 8 nights we were there. We have already decided we will go back every year that we can. The experience is unforgettable - the stress melts off the moment you arrive and you truly get to experience paradise. Thank you Four Seasons Maui/Wailea - your class, beauty and impeccable service are unlike anything out there.

This is by far the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed at. The actual hotel is beautifully designed and the setting is stunning. We arrived having had a long flight in from the UK and were greeted by one of the valets who provided cold bottles of water and refreshing towels to make us feel slightly more human again! We were accompanied to our room and given a guided tour of the hotel and it's amenities along the way.
The service on all fronts is first class from the waiters and bar staff, the housekeeping staff and the front desk staff. They are attentive without making you feel claustrophobic.
The rooms are very spacious, particularly the bathrooms and it is really nice to have your own balcony area to enjoy the sunset if you aren't down at one of the restaurants enjoying it.
We ate in all three of the restaurants at the hotel while we were there and they were all amazing, Ferraro's being our favourite.

The Four Seasons in Wailea is still the one to beat. After our fifteenth stay here, we are still looking forward to the time that it does not meet our every expectation. But it did again on this trip. And even though it had been over two years in between visits, nearly every person we came in contact with greeted us like they had just seen us the previous week.

There were some minor gripes that are my personal pet peeves (I don't believe in stating a rule and then ignoring it, such as rules about using the cabanas and leaving them open for more than an hour), but other than that, the FS Maui continues to be as close to perfection as I have seen in a resort hotel. We visited the Grand Wailea (too big) and the Ritz Carlton (too windy) just to compare, and we still find the Four Seasons to be the best around.

Before our trip, when we said we were going to Maui, people asked where we were staying. When we told them the Four Seasons, they invariably said that it was the nicest place on earth. They are so right. It is beautiful, the food at each of the restaurants was great, the people were so friendly and helpful, and the beach it is on is outstanding. And we can't say enough about our travel agent -- whatahotel.com -- by booking through them, we each got a free breakfast buffet every day ($85 for two!), a free lunch one day, and a fabulous upgrade from our cheapest room to one overlooking a lovely garden. They even sent a nice welcome gift when we checked in. I was really skeptical about booking through them, and actually found their facebook page and messaged people who said they had good experiences with them to make sure they were legitimate. They totally exceeded my expectations. It made a fantastic vacation even more fantastic!

We stayed for a week in a Partial Ocean view Exec Suite Facing the north side. It gives you the privacy from the two lanais -- that is the only place where you do have your space as the hotel and the beach are packed in Summer. Rooms facing the inner garden are nice as well but the lanais on one side, face lanais on the other side of the hotel.

We loved the pools with the kids. It is hard getting a shady spot at the adult pool unless you go early around 7 to grab one.

Enjoyed the beach activities -- the outrigger canoe (book it a day or two in advance), snorkeling, boogie boards and my teenager got his scuba certification via the dive team attached to the hotel. Got a great dvd with all the sea creatures he saw on his first dive.

The gym is great for an early morning workout and the weight room is attached to the spa so look out for it -- did not see it the first day.

The breakfast buffet varied on a daily basis and it was a blast -- enjoyed the omelets and the fresh fruits section. Service at all 3 restaurants was great and so was the food. The concierges are helpful in planning activities and making suggestions that balance a restful holiday as well as doing activities with the kids. We spent time at the hotel and the beach for 4 days and did the helicopter ride, zip-lining and the trip to lanai on the other 3 days .

Thanks for a lovely vacation and shout out to the Dive team, the servers the concierge and the folks at the poolside. Mahalo

Room Tip: opt for rooms facing the north side or south side
