We stayed at the Hotel Wailea for a few days before heading up to Lahaina. It has a great location and nice views of the water from the lanai. A quick drive to the beach with your bag including towels and cold water. Very helpful staff.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a renovated room.

This hotel is very small with "big hotel" amenities--there are only 72 suites---in villas that contain 4 suites each. It is not right on the beach, so you are not paying the "beach location" prices, but you can have an ocean view if you pay more. (The hotel was once a private Japanese hotel). The lobby and grounds are lovely. Very much an adult oriented feel. Our 13 year old loved it.
The very cool/modern rooms are actually large one bedroom suites with a luxurious bath, a good sized kitchen and living area. Our child used the fold out sectional sofa and slept well. The bedroom has a king sized bed and wall mounted t.v.. The living area has a long desk, a second t.v. and a sectional. The bath has a large open rain-showerhead shower and a large freestanding tub. The lavatory sink is very wide for two people to use at once, but there is little counter space. There is a large closet with a dresser and a safe. The kitchen has a pair of refrigerated/freezer drawers, induction cooktop and microwave. It is pretty well equipped with a toaster, tea kettle, pots, pans, serving pieces and tableware.
We used the on-site coin operated laundry facities. We did not go to the spa, pool or fitness center. The pool is supposed to undergo renovations very soon...it looks good now, so it will look even better later this spring.
The valets were so helpful, including the free shuttle to the beach and to the restaurants/shopping areas. The beach is actually the Grand Wailea's beach and is shared with this hotel.
We stayed 2 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. We would love to come back!

Room Tip: Spring for the ocean view rooms because they are on the second floor and you will love the covered l...

I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else, but our stay got off to the wrong start...We checked into our room and SURPRISE there were people already in our room. We called the front desk to see what the mixed up was and they sent the other people out to another room leaving us in a room where people had already been....They said a manager would be in touch with us, but this never happened. We were never compensated for their mistake. I would never stay here again. I know this must have been a fluke but I didn't like that they were okay with how they handled this.

Although not right on the beach like a lot of the hotels, this beautiful hotel is a collection of small accommodation blocks (4 suites per block) two on the upper floor and two on the ground floor and set in beautiful grounds on the hillside.
We stayed in an upper suite and had a panoramic ocean view
The balcony was a generous size with a sofa and table and chairs where we enjoyed our breakfast each morning. The interior features a living area with sofas and television and a separate well equipped kitchen. The bathroom featured a huge tub as well as an open shower area. The whole living space was beautifully recently refurbished.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful and had the barman been friendly then I could not fault this place at all. To me, a friendly barman is essential but the one we encountered neither made eye contact or smiled and seemed reluctant to serve us.
There is self parking or valet parking. The valet parking is very efficient with the desk manned at all times with the valet running to fetch cars immediately.
There is also a shuttle service to the beach and shops.
We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: I looked around and all the rooms seemed to be good.

Stayed here earlier in February. The property is well situated and good amenities to the beach which is a short 10 minute drive away. Although our room was located on the ground floor the lanai was spacious and afforded a good view. Our room although not renovated it was spacious - but very tired and in desperate need of updating. We found that the drawers in the bathroom still had items from previous guests. Friends who travelled with us had to be moved due to a leak in their bathroom (room 153) this had clearly been a longstanding problem. The smell was horrid. When they were upgraded to a renovated room - we were jealous. The renovated room was lovely. The hot tub was not working when we were there on our last day - the water was unsafe and scalding. There did not seem to be a plan to fix it or restrict access. In our minds this is a huge safety issue. The "breakfast" is just muffins/coffee - no fruit or juice. Or you can order from the menu. S$25.00 day resort fee covers ... Would return but not till construction & renovations are complete which they advise will be in 09/2014 - I would say probably much longer.

Room Tip: ask for a renovated room. We don't know how you get one but the old rooms are tired. There is a...

My husband and I came here for our 30th birthdays and babymoon vacation. We stayed in one of the newly renovated deluxe bedroom partial ocean view suites. With new appliances, furniture, and amenities. Our room was everything we wanted/hoped for. Will be back for sure! Enjoyed feeding the Koi fish right off the patio with the food they gave us at front desk.

Room Tip: Ask for new deluxe renovated rooms.

Hotel Wailea is a singularly beautiful zen garden retreat, conveniently located away from the touristy beaten path, but still near enough to beaches, shops and restaurants in Wailea. The upland views and sunset views are astounding! This is a great place to get away from the loud kids and overhyped mayhem at the larger trendy resorts on the beach. This is a very special place, catering best to independent minded people. They also have a great, friendly staff, too!
We've gone back annually for over 4 years now, and can't wait to get back!
