“The views were spectacular!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

Hotel Wailea is a beautiful hotel. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed that they had a shuttle service, and were able to get around the area easily. It was a quiet place to enjoy our time on Maui. I felt like they knew us personally. We enjoyed sitting out on the lanai every morning to watch the sunrise and to feel the breezes off the ocean. My only downside, is that we stayed in one of the rooms that haven't been remodeled yet, so there were some minor issues in our room (which is why it didn't get an excellent rating). Overall, we would stay again!

Room Tip: Request a remodeled room on the top floor.

Hotel Wailea is a beautiful, wonderful place to stay. The staff are friendly, professional, kind and very helpful. I took the shuttle at least twice a day and never had to wait, although that would have been fine because there was always something lovely to look at. The rest of my "family" stayed at one of the big hotels down the street. It was a fine place, excellent service, but Hotel Wailea was the place for me.

My boyfriend had planned to go to Maui and searched and searched for hotels on the internet. We knew very little about our options and felt like we were truly relying on websites and comments from past guests. And we came across this property. We sure found a gem in Hotel Wailea. The Fairmont and Four Seasons are right down the street yet there was not ONE instant where I wished we were staying at those properties or any other one, for that matter. In fact, we felt we had a special place to ourselves. The minute we pulled up to the hotel, we were already blown away. The lobby and the gardens with the waterfall give a sense of pure relaxation. The rooms are suites... there are four suites to each building but we felt like they were a condo- a home. We stayed in a room facing the ocean, which was so calm and relaxing. The staff were very friendly. Especially Corinne and Karen at the Front Desk and Rowen with the bellstaff. The pool was never crowded and we always found lounge chairs to sit on. It was always relaxing to come in from the beach or a tour and enjoy the pool. The drinks were fantastic too. Hotel Wailea also has the option for its guests to go to the Wailea Beach where you can get umbrellas, chairs and towels- all complimentary. This was a HUGE plus as we needed to stay out of the sun from time to time. We were so very sad to leave. AWESOME place!! So if you're looking for a special place to stay with peace and relaxation, look no further. Bravo, Hotel Wailea!!

Room Tip: Partial ocean view is fine. However, when they saw panoramic ocean views, it really is PANORAMIC. An...

This was our family's 2nd visit to Hotel Wailea. We stayed here in 2011 and liked it so much we decided to come back again. We did not upgrade our room and other reviewers are correct, the regular rooms are a bit "dated". But they are very spacious (our room had 2 doubles and a pull-out queen sofabed) and a relative bargain for this area. We were disappointed with the breakfast. Today the only options were 3 different "breads" and water, coffee or milk -- no fruits or bagels or hard-boiled eggs. This seemed more meager than our last visit. They offer free wifi (which can be a little slow) and the small kitchenette is useful for making sandwiches. Our kids enjoyed the Japanese toilet. The bathroom set-up is a bit odd in that the shower is wide open and there is no door to the room, but you can close off the bedroom from the rest of the suite for more privacy.

Our favorite part of Hotel Wailea by far is the SPA. It seems to be a well-kept secret because we've used it every day we've stayed here and on most occasions we have it all to ourselves! As with the room, it is a little bit "dated", but the view is amazing! And nothing is better than returning from a visit to Big Beach and warming up in the hot tubs! Also, there are about a dozen individual hand-held showers to use and our family can all shower (in bathing suits) at once. No taking turns in the shower back at the room. They have Aveda products for your use at the spa as well as in your room.

Friendly staff and beautiful grounds. There do seem to be more weeds now than our last visit and we enjoyed the pond more without the plant growth in it, but it is still as beautiful as we remembered.

We stayed here for 5 nights on our honeymoon and we were so glad we picked this hotel! It was quiet and relaxing, we didn't get all the crowds the larger resorts have! We felt like we were the only ones there! The staff was all extremely friendly and helpful, the grounds are beautiful and the continental breakfast is great! The pool was beautiful AND quiet, and if you want a beach its only a 5 min drive away. I would highly recommend this hotel if you want a quiet environment and don't care if your right on the beach. It was cheaper then the hotels on the water, and in our opinion, a better hotel for couples (probably not for families)!

Room Tip: Upper level rooms have a spectacular view! We stayed in a non-renovated room and it was still great...

Spent 4 days at the Hotel Wailea in May, 2013 for our 25th wedding anniversary. After three days on Kauai right on the beach, we were ok with a resort away from all the action. Hotel Wailea has a large lobby/restaurant building, and then narrow paths that wind around the property to scattered 4-unit buildings - most with stunning views. Sitting on our lanai watching the sunset over the Hawaiin islands was breathtaking. The rooms are large and comfortable. Apparently ours was not "renovated" but it was perfect. Lovely soaker tub, huge shower, comfy bed. We were on the second floor and high nice high ceilings in the spacious suite, with two TV's. The kitchen is not for cooking - just a microwave and coffee maker. Small fridge to keep drinks and snacks. I have some mobility issues - not a problem - just contact the front desk and they'll send the attendant with a golf cart to pick you up. Breakfast buffet is perfect - bagels, breakfast breads, fruit, coffee in a gorgeous setting. Pool area was so quiet, we enjoyed the curtained bed lounge and ordered fruity drinks from the bar and ordered lunch. Be sure to check out Mulligans on the Blue's live music - just 3 minutes from the hotel. They'll shuttle you over!

Room Tip: Ask for the panoramic view.

We stayed here for a week May/June 2013. It was relaxing with helpful staff. They even told us where to hire a car. The guys driving us to and from the local restaurants in the shuttle were great and always willing to share their local knowledge. The pool was very quiet, we often had it to ourselves. The perfect place for a relaxing holiday, which was just what we wanted.

Room Tip: Ask for a panoramic ocean view room, well worth it.
