“Incredible place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

I stayed in 3 places on Maui during my trip: Sheraton Maui, Hotel Wailea, and Hana Maui Kai. Hotel Wailea was by far the most outstanding place to stay - simply beautiful, very relaxing atmosphere, felt very secure, helpful and friendly staff, and close to shore (short drive to a public parking place, with plenty of space), and had shuttle for shopping and restaurants which we simply didn't use due to time constraints. When I return to Maui in the next year or so, I will be staying at this hotel.

Room Tip: We had an oceanview room, 2nd floor - was fine, quiet, and nice view of ocean over the rooftops of t...

“Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

We chose this quiet, 'boutique' style hotel over the pricier & busier resorts on the shore and spent 10 serene and rewarding days there. Hotel Wailea is in lovely hill-side setting, features lushly landscaped and hardscaped grounds, and offers several apartments with spectacular panoramic vistas of the Pacific Ocean. (In fact, we asked to be moved to improve our view, and the staff accommodated our request as soon as a premier room became available.) The Hotel provides shuttle service to & from the Wailea beachfront and complimentary unbrellas & chairs are available to its guests. Breakfast features a good assortment of fresh fruits and pastries. Basic and intermediate yoga are offered at the start of each day. Service and attentiveness to guests is solid. Capische Restaurant. located on the premises, is one of the best on Maui.

Room Tip: Book a room with the panoramic ocean view ... amazing.

“Secluded and quiet, maybe too quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012 via mobile

I stayed here for a week. The hotel is located a bit further inland and not far from the more upper scale resorts on the beach of Wailea. While Hotel Wailea has no location on the beach, they do have shuttles running (some earlier reviews say they are using Escalades but at the time of this review they are using GL Class from Benz.) I found the spa to be very useful (didn't opt for treatments though) and pretty good. It is a traditional coed spa with a bit of Japanese taste in it. I have been used to Korean spas called "jimjilbangs"; this is not one of them.

Surprised by how big my room was - it is a suite. All rooms of suites.

A few things I can knock points off for: First, the bathroom facilities, while very well maintained, are getting dated, and last I found renovations were in progress so it will be different if you visit this hotel possibly many months from now. Another thing is that this hotel is predominantly for couples. If you are traveling solo, you'll feel left out. I had to drive out to more livelier places on Maui.

For those who want a honeymoon stay without breaking the bank, Hotel Wailea is a good choice, something I will consider when I get married.

“Wonderful hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

We spent five days at the Hotel Wailea and had an absolutely wonderful stay! The entire hotel facility is beautiful and open, with a nice garden and pool area and nice private apartments. Our apartment was directly facing the ocean which gave us magnificent sunset views. The apartment itself was very spacious, beautiful and clean and all the staff was super-friendly and very helpful. The food at the hotel's italian restaurant - Capische - was absolutely amazing and the quiet and relaxed atmosphere while sitting in the garden was simply excellent.
A nice little addition to the service is that the valet will drive you anywhere in the Wailea area - so if you wanna go down to the beach, to a restaurant or do some shopping in the area, it's quick and easy. And you just call them to pick you up again from anywhere in the area.
The only "downside" was that everything at the breakfast buffet was served with disposable plates, cutlery and plates.

“Incredible Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

We had a total of 6 nights' stay at Hotel Wailea, with 2 nights in Hana Town inserted in the middle. As wonderful as our Hana stay was, if we'd known how incredible our stay would be at Hotel Wailea, we would never have booked the Hana stay!

Booked HW after learning that our usual Maui lodging, What a Wonderful World B&B, wasn't available for our dates. We were unsure about the property, but our B&B owner told us that it was beautiful - we needed to book! And it was very little more than what we'd budgeted, due to a great 90-day-out special. I even called the Hotel ahead to ask if they'd store our luggage while we went to Hana - they agreed (and did exactly as promised). We decided to spend a little extra for the Panoramic Ocean View suite - it was a great decision!

We have stayed at a number of very luxurious hotels in the line of work, but NEVER have we received better treatment from staff - cheerful, helpful, accomodating. The grounds are VERY quiet, views are incredible, architecture Asian-wonderful, spa upstairs above the pool awesome (great place to view sunset!), pool area great, gardens serene and lovely. Breakfast in the open air lounge area was very good - papaya, island-grown apples, pineapple, cantaloupe, banana breads, lilikoi bread, bagels, energy muffins (loved these), juices, teas (to include Japanese green, a fav), and amazing Maui Red Kona coffee from Honolulu Coffees. Rooms were stocked with Japanese green tea and Honolulu Kona for the little coffee pots there.

Rooms: our first room was downstairs. Next time I would request upstairs on booking - the view from upstairs IS better, without a doubt. Bathroom sink and vanity tops had not yet been renovated, but were clean and didn't detract from our experience at all. And not at all a room - these are 900 sq. ft. suites, outfitted with kitchenettes, open floor plans (though it was easy to achieve any privacy you desire with sliding panels), the most comfortable bath robes ever, Japanese style bath/shower, even a Japanese toilet seat (look that up!). On the second half of our stay, we were upgraded to a luxury suite - the furniture there is incredible, and the upstairs lanai was very nice. We even found a platter of macadamia nuts and a thank you note on the dining table.

Spa: we visited there at LEAST daily - it is a MUST visit. Waterfall treatment, a cool "cage" shower, dry sauna, and a HUGE open-air, ocean view hot bubble pool with waterfall and hot water loungers, complete with marble pillows. My husband used the weights in the workout room, which was well-equipped and also had an expansive ocean view.

Privileges at the Shops at Grand Wailea Resort and umbrellas, towels, snorkels, loungers, and bottled water at the beachfront there was a real plus - to include that some of the best sea turtle sighting is there!

If all of this sounds too good to be true - go ahead and book your stay - it's all true. We'd have no trouble recommending this property to our wealthiest (like, billionaire) friends - they'd consider it a place of great luxury at a great price.

Room Tip: Spend the little extra for panoramic ocean view, request upstairs when booking!
