“Secluded and quiet, maybe too quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012 via mobile

I stayed here for a week. The hotel is located a bit further inland and not far from the more upper scale resorts on the beach of Wailea. While Hotel Wailea has no location on the beach, they do have shuttles running (some earlier reviews say they are using Escalades but at the time of this review they are using GL Class from Benz.) I found the spa to be very useful (didn't opt for treatments though) and pretty good. It is a traditional coed spa with a bit of Japanese taste in it. I have been used to Korean spas called "jimjilbangs"; this is not one of them.

Surprised by how big my room was - it is a suite. All rooms of suites.

A few things I can knock points off for: First, the bathroom facilities, while very well maintained, are getting dated, and last I found renovations were in progress so it will be different if you visit this hotel possibly many months from now. Another thing is that this hotel is predominantly for couples. If you are traveling solo, you'll feel left out. I had to drive out to more livelier places on Maui.

For those who want a honeymoon stay without breaking the bank, Hotel Wailea is a good choice, something I will consider when I get married.

We spent five days at the Hotel Wailea and had an absolutely wonderful stay! The entire hotel facility is beautiful and open, with a nice garden and pool area and nice private apartments. Our apartment was directly facing the ocean which gave us magnificent sunset views. The apartment itself was very spacious, beautiful and clean and all the staff was super-friendly and very helpful. The food at the hotel's italian restaurant - Capische - was absolutely amazing and the quiet and relaxed atmosphere while sitting in the garden was simply excellent.
A nice little addition to the service is that the valet will drive you anywhere in the Wailea area - so if you wanna go down to the beach, to a restaurant or do some shopping in the area, it's quick and easy. And you just call them to pick you up again from anywhere in the area.
The only "downside" was that everything at the breakfast buffet was served with disposable plates, cutlery and plates.

We stayed at Hotel Wailea for a week! What a dream! We had one of the upstairs apartments facing the sea, sunrise was AMAZING! The hotel itself was beautiful! The open reception, lounge area and pool were fantastic! Our apartment was great too! We liked how the rooms were all separate, the shower was great! Just what we needed after a day at the beach! We never really used the kitchen area unless to make a coffee (we were on holiday, we don't cook on holiday!) When we arrived we used the valet to park and they had a little buggy that took us after check in to our apartment and showed us where all the lights and air conditioning were. We arrived quite late so really couldn't appreaciate the whole place till sunrise! The rooms were a little worn however the block next to us was being renovated so I have every faith that they will all be done and looking fab in no time! The gardeners were there most days and the grounds around the complex were stunning. We had no issues with bugs until the last night but this was no fault of the hotels, mu husband went onto the veranda and forgot to close the patio doors! But we didn't need to call and staff we just fixed the bug problem ourselves, a little common sense! Another huge plus for us was that it was off the beaten track and very quiet surroundings, the beach is only a short drive away but we seemed to find better beach areas for snorkelling a couple of miles away. A car at this hotel is a necessity, don't be put off as the driving on Maui is soooooo laid back. Housekeeping were fab too! We needed to buy the "hoover" bags to get all our clothes and purchases into our case and we left a note for housekeeping and they assisted no problems at all.

Room Tip: Opt for a oceanview room on the upper level of the block

Spent a week in Maui at the Hotel Wailea. The hotel is a bit dated but comfortable with pretty landscaping and quiet. We were visited every morning and evening by a couple of chickens on our lanai, they were a couple of characters. One of the real nice amenities is the lounge chairs with umbrellas on the Wailea beach especially for people that can't take too much sun. The rooms have plenty of space, the shower bath area is a bit different but works. The rooms have a stove but no microwave or pots/pans, does have dishes and silverware. The pool is nice but the spa does not have jets, just bubbles from the floor. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only negative is that the maid service comes late in the day (3 or 4pm).

The Hotel Wailea was a dream. The rooms were a bit outdated, but it appeared that they were updating other buildings as we were there. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very spacious.

The concierge was great! They were very informative and helped us to find some of our favorite things on Maui. In all of our interactions, they were very helpful and never felt as though they were selling us on anything.

The sunset view is fantastic from the hot tub, or from the main lobby. The property is not over crowded, which allows for a very romantic get away.

I would stay here again!

This is a great Hotel with wonderfully friendly staff. The Hotel is built over the top of a series of waterfalls cascading into pools, it's as if the hotel is a bridge above the waterfalls. The rooms have the best showers and tub that allow you to look out over the ocean and island. The tub and shower area is huge. The bed is great and the linen is clean and silky. To top this off you can grab your beach gear and they will drive you to the beach and pick you up in a black Cadillac Escalade. You will feel like royalty here. Say Hi to Max he is one of the locals that works there and is the most generous and friendly person you will find at a Hotel .
