“great restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2014

We were so pleased with our experience at Monkeypod. We were happy to know it was connected to Merriman's which we have really enjoyed in the past. Monkeypod is a busy restaurant, a happening place! It has very good food, healthfully prepared. if you want a quieter environment go to the back of the restaurant, and enjoy the activity from a distance. They have a nice bar, great service and again good food. I think that is why it is so busy. A great variety of dishes, well prepared, good price. Highly recommended.

“Exceptional food with good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2014 via mobile

We arrived for dinner without reservations. The plethora of hostesses happily seated us within 10 minutes. There were A wide range of menu items with varying prices with noodles & burgers starting around $13.00 and fresh local fish around $30.00. The macadamia encrusted Mahi Mahi with crisp vegetables, basmati rice in buerre blanc was excellent- worth the $34.00 price tag. Great casual atmosphere, excellent food, attentive waiters and tasty specialty cocktails.

“Great for couples or families...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2014

We were staying at a nearby hotel and asked our concierge for a really nice nearby restaurant...she said you can't go wrong at Monkeypod. We loved it!!! The food was terrific (between the five of us, we had everything from stir-fry to fresh fish, including pizza, chicken and a healthy salad). The service was great, our waiter very helpful and friendly and the atmosphere was fun without being too loud. There was a really enjoyable local singer playing that provided an enjoyable backdrop to our evening. My wife and I woupd have had a great time if it was just us but having our three adult kids with us made for an equally unforgettable evening. I can't recommend any more highly.

“Nice But a Bit Loud”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2014

Nice restaurant with a very creative menu. Food was prepared and served as ordered. Good location on Wailea and easily accessible from all the major resorts. Reservations are a must. Only downside for us was the noise level inside the restaurant.

“So LA- Only for the rich and famous, I guess?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2014

Nice view of the ocean, very very loud inside the restaurant. Couldn't get a reservation the previous night, so made one the second night a little bit earlier. VERY expensive food, first time I paid almost $20 for a cheeseburger! This place represented all that is wrong with our country. A bunch of 20-30 somethings spending $100 to $200 for a meal and thinking nothing of it. All dolled up arriving in their nice luxury vehicles. I am sure there is a reason I'm not a millionaire, and eating here made me realize this. I left feeling very embarrassed about wasting so much money when I know others in this world didn't get anything for dinner. What a shame!!
