“Happy hour and breakfast here -pretty good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

I think for happy hour on Maui, you can't beat these prices. We got so much for our money and our bartender was super nice. Great hurricanes and proper beer pours.
For breakfast, we had a prime seat for whale watching. Food was pretty good for breakfast, although I prefer Kihei Cafe for the food. Only suggestions I have is that if they have a sign that says, "wait for hostess" before being seated, at least have a hostesss there. We waited for 15-20 min before being told that the hostess was on a break. Really? I watched others waiting too. I know Maui is a bit slow on things, but when you are in a service related industry, serving hotel patrons, you gotta be more on it there.
Also when you read the menu for lunch, it offers a fries/onion rings combo for 2$ extra. Skip the onion rings, they are frozen & taste that way. If they hand dipped them, it would be well worth it.

“Loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

If you don't go to 5 Palms in Kihei on your trip to Maui it's not complete. Their Happy Hour from 3 to 7 is simply the best we've ever experienced. Pupus and drinks are 1/2 price and are absolutely superb. The location is perfect - right on the beach so you're able to watch the whales and the beautiful sunset. We also went to the other location in Lahaina which has different choices. Kihei was our favorite of the 2.

“One of the most romantic restaurants on Maui”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

I have eaten here every trip to Maui. Food is excellent. View is outstanding, prices are typical of a fine dining experience. Service is still good, but not as good as previous visits. Things like forgetting to provide the wine list, failing to mention the specials, forgetting to ask if we would like dessert, and other small details were annoying distractions from an otherwise perfect meal. Some visitor books include a discount coupon, but despite the fact the coupon is in-restricted, they refuse to honor it for their specials. Reservations highly recommended.
