“Passable.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

We happened into Kai Wailea late on a weeknight and were one of only a handful of tables. Our server was an engaging and attentive Russian kite-surfer. Food was unremarkable. The crab and crab roll was one of those things with too much sauce and too many ingredients, the end result being a sweet, incoherent taste. The tuna roll was the best of the sushi, but overall the ngiri sushi and sashimi were just relatively bland.

I have a lingering sense that there is something about warm-water fish that makes them less firm and less distinctive in their flavor than fish from colder waters. I have no scientific basis for this, but I have yet -- even at supposedly top-end sushi bars -- to get really good-quality fish in the Islands.

“Average food. Nice setting. Others are better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

This restaurant was convenient for a lunch while shopping in Wailea. The food is average. We had better sushi in othe restaurants on Maui and Oahu. Service was average as well.

“Disappointed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012 via mobile

Extremely disappointed. The service was great. The waitress extremely friendly and attentive however the food was disgusting. Definitely not fresh. We were unsure what we wanted so we ordered a California Roll as a starter. It came out too fast. It was definitely not fresh. The avocado in it was brown- a sign it had been sitting out. Would not recommend this restaurant. Avoid!

“Convenient to Wailea hotels - with great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012 via mobile

Got there for a late lunch. They gratiously opened for us and served excellent sushi. The fish is very fresh, and well prepared. Delicious.

Ambiance is a little week. You really feel like a shopping center. But, the food and service makes up for it.

“Sushi when you don't know what else to order.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012 via mobile

Food was good. For sushi I didn't feel the rice was packed well. Chicken skewers were very good. Would not be my first choice of restaurants in Wailea but if you are looking for quick sushi it will do.
