“FABULOUS RESORT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

What a gem ! Beautiful grounds and setting. Courteous staff. All amenities
are free (only exception umbrella at the beach ) including activities such as yoga, lei making etc. Free water everyday. Breakfast buffet was lovely and the setting was exceptional. Very quiet and relaxing unlike the hotels near by which have a lot of hustle and bustle . Parking is free both valet and self park. Beach is beautiful. Soft clean sand and great vistas. The pool was small , but not a scene and easy to get a chair in the shade without a hassle. Nice pool restaurant. Our room was on the fifth floor and the view was beyond compare. Large patio with table and chairs. Hotel is a five minute drive from all the action and shops and restaurants. Close to marine preserve with great snorkeling. Prices of room and food were more than fair. We felt right at home and would return to paradise in a heartbeat !!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the fifth floor as views are the best.

Makena Beach has it all for a relaxing vacation. Service was excellent, rooms very comfortable. The breakfast buffet had many choices including a good array of fresh fruit. Recommended for business & family travelers.

Room Tip: Without a doubt any ocean view!

Firstly Maui is a beautiful island. Loved Makena although the weather was a bit hit and miss due to the Volcano. Hotel staff were so friendly and it was really good value for money - free water by the pool, free bike hire, free car shuttle to anything local.

Room was good and we had a free upgrade. Also thought the bar food by the pool was lovely as was the bar on the green.

We visited the Grand Wailea. Its a lot more expensive and even thought its nice, I'm not sure its worth the extra money.

Only disappointment was the pool which is tiny.

Room Tip: High room is best

My fiancee and I had a wonderful stay at the Makena Beach & Golf Resort. All of the staff was super friendly, the grounds were incredibly relaxing, and the beach was awesome.

We had a room with a partial ocean view and we had no complaints. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was plenty spacious. Wi-fi was free and easy to connect to.

We had breakfast at the breakfast buffet every morning as part of our package and we loved it. The sitting area never seemed too crowded and we never had to wait for anything. The food was delicious. It was a great, relaxing way to start each day.

We absolutely loved the beach attached to the hotel. The waters were calm and great to swim in. The south end of the beach has a great area to snorkel, as well.

The hotel itself is kind of isolated so you will be driving a little longer to and from the hotel. It was a small price to pay though for the peace and quiet that the resort offered.

Overall, we loved our time here and can't wait to go back!

We just got back from our honeymoon at Makena Beach and Golf Resort. The first thing that makes my review an excellent was the service. Carolyn or Carol (I forget) checked us in and was so incredibly nice to us, we checked in late, encountered a few problems but she went above and beyond to help us find options around these. We stayed for 7 days and it was the most relaxing trip I have ever taken. They make everyting easy for you, although the hotel is a bit isolated from all the touristy hussle and bussle (and we LOVED that) they do provide a free shuttle service that takes you around to the shops and different restaurants up to Wailea. The bell service that drives the shuttle were so friendly, Chris especially always greeted us with a smile and even reccomended good restaurants in the area that were also affordable. We went to the luau at the Mariott in Wailea (great show) but the service we got there was night and day compared to Makena. You feel like you're in your own little small town when at Makena, friendly neighbors and all. The rooms were clean and the grounds well kept. I noticed a few reviews complained about how small the pool was and all I have to say is that the beach available to you is so amazing I have no idea why anyone would want to hang out in a pool. However, the pool is a decent size and was never, ever crowded. Concierge were great and they don't try to sell you packages you don't want. They have so much to offer we only rented a car for a day as we had almost everything you could need right there, from kayaking to snorkling, spa and entertainment.

The second thing that makes my review of this an excellent was the location and all the bonuses you can find here. First of, the breakfast package that we took advantage of was well worth it, different options each day and delicious. It helped cut costs as most of the time we only needed one other meal in the day. They have complimentary activities each day, we took the stargazing class that was so much fun! I hope they keep this up as it was one of our favorite things. You can have smores under the stars(a make your own smore kit is provided for $10) as an astronomer gives a lesson and lets you look at the amazing night sky through a telescope. We also took a ukelele lesson which was so much fun! The instructor kept it simple and funny. My husband also took out the complimentary bikes they offer for a great ride down the lava flow road close to the hotel (a must see). I only wish they had more bikes, I only saw three there and they seem to spend a lot of time in repair.

It was a fantastic vacation, the hotel never felt crowded, the staff cater to you as if you were their only customer and if you want to relax and slow down this is the PERFECT spot! Absolutely an ideal honeymoon resort.

We got these off of a priceline "name your price bid" and couldn't be happier. The location is perfect as it is near all the big resorts but still not too close to them. You therefore are left with a largely uncrowded beach with some of the best snorkeling out there that you'll get on the Island. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The rooms are large and spacious. All in all we really enjoyed our stay!

Room Tip: Ocean view room is well worth it

We stayed here for 5 days. From the minute we arrived Ron at reception made us feel very welcome. He couldnt have been nicer or more helpful. He even refused the tip my husband tried to leave , telling us that it was his pleasure to help us.
Our room was big with a lovely view of the pool area.
Everyone who works here seems very happy in their jobs and go out of their way to help.
You will need a car . However the shuttle from the hotel to the local amenities is outstanding. It simply goes on demand when you need it.
all in all a fantastic stay.
