“A great neighborhood restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

If Farro were located downtown it would not be considered a great neighborhood restaurant. It would be a great restaurant. But it has the advantage of being in a neighborhood with free parking, and perhaps close to home. For us it was not close to home but well worth the trip.

The calamari is unusual and wonderful. No rubber bands here! It seems you can't go wrong on any of the menu items. Order what you like and I think you will be pleased.

The service is friendly and nearly family - but not too informal or saccharin - no "you guys" or "sweety."

“Great Meal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

We went during 5280 week; however, we ordered off the main menu. We now have a problem -- we either have to go back and lower our reviews of similar neighborhood Italian restaurants or we have to figure out how to give Farro a 6th star. Needless to say, the service was excellent, the price reasonable, and everyone raved about their meals - the sizzling shrimp appetizer was awesome, the salads great, the linguine with clams the best I have had (and I order this dish frequently wherever we go), the lasagna and chicken parmigiana were excellent. The wines and desserts made for an outstanding meal. And, as a bonus we learned after the fact, they participate in United Plus Dining. An all around great evening and meal.

“Good neighborhood italian”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

Probably somewhere between four and five stars. Have eaten here a number of times and it can be a little uneven but mostly imaginative and tasty. The pasta dishes aren't a favorite but the specials are always good and they do a great bean soup. Very reasonably priced and a nice room (try to sit in the main dining room)

“Great food, good menu, great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Great Italian food outside NYC...my server was fantastic, so nice and so helpful. Interesting menu here including polenta which I don't see enough at Italian restaurants even in NYC. Nice appetizer of olives, meats, and cheeses.

“A better neighborhood restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

There are so many variations of Italian. What your Mother made, your grandmother made, what your uncles put together on the holidays... it just goes on. The bottom line is, did it taste good! My mother's maiden name was Tarantino and on my dad's side it was DeDominico before being changed at Ellis Island, and I'm from upstate NY.

The food is good, the service is great and every time my wife and I go there, they make us happy and we feel full... just like when we left my Mom's house. That's what a good neighborhood restaurant is supposed to do. Sure NYC Italian is great... so is Boston and so is Farro in Centennial.
