“Don't understand the high rating”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

Ordered a simple meal of chowder then fish cakes with beans. Chowder was hot, beans were cold and cakes were only warm. Had a late breakfast and stopped here for early supper as hadn't bothered to have lunch. Within an hour I was nauseous and shortly after was very ill...which lasted most of the night. Obvious to me the cause but advised not to mention by name as I was not diagnosed at a hospital.

Dear Wilujo~ I am sorry that you did not have a good experience at the inn. Cold food is never acceptable and I do wish that you had told your server so that we could fix the problem. It is unlikely that you became ill from our food. The items that you had ordered are the most popular on the menu. We sell dozens of orders of chowder and haddock cakes with beans every day, so that means that we prepare these dishes from the freshest, locally sourced ingredients every day. We have had no other reports of illness from our staff and family who eat here daily.

“Average food, good beer”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

The food is average, the service could be improved. I started with a seafood chowder which was bland. The pork ribs were juicy but not as tender as primised and the french fries were soft and not crispy.

“Pub Grub!”

The food and service was good. This is about as good as it gets in Liverpool. The setting is wonderful. The Restaurants in Lunenburg are far superior. Continue up 103.

“Lane's Privateer Inn / Riverside Wine Harvest Festival 2012 - Awesome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

My husband and I attended the Riverside Wine Harvest Festival which was hosted by Lane's Privateer Inn. We were "lucky ticket winners" to this event, the prize included an overnight stay, tickets for food and wine at the Festival and a Taste of Nova Scotia Breakfast the next morning.

The gals at the front desk were very friendly and well informed on all aspects of the Festival, the town and any other questions that we had. The room was perfect - comfortable bed, nice bathroom (with lot of hot water); tv, microwave, etc. We loved the older details of the inn - lovely wood trim, and decor.

The food was amazing! We tried crab cakes, baked beans, chowder, ribs and OMG - the brown bread rolls. Yummy! yes - they sell this bread in their store. At the next morning's breakfast we had the sausage, eggs and homefries. OM - the sausages which come from the valley area were delicious. The service was perfect - no long waits, attentive without hovering. Couldn't ask for better food or service.

The festival - which was scheduled to be outdoors was relocated to the inside due to rain, rain and more rain. The band, Sidemen - a Blues Band was awesome - and you can tell they've been playing together for 15 - 20 years - they were flawless! The different wine vendors and the various food samples were very delicious. The only thing I would do different would be with the Food and Wine tickets - I would definitely color code them so one is one color and the other a different color - less confusion for everyone.

Overall - a wonderful stay - the location is great - an easy walk to Tim's, the NSLC or just sight seeing in general.

“Traditional pub food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

I stayed here while on a business visit. Overall the food , service and location were very good. Great location to be able to make day trips to the many local beaches. Summerville , Carters, Rissers , the Kejji adjunct park are all fairly close.
