My boyfriend and I took a quick Memorial Day vacation to Natchez. We stayed in the cottage at the 1888 Wensel House and absolutely loved it! The cottage has two cute bedrooms, a bath, kitchen, dining area, living room, and front and back porches. It is a great value for the money, private, and cozy. We also had an opportunity to view the rooms in the main house before we left. They were just as beautiful and surprisingly private as well.
Ron and Mimi were the best hosts! They knew everything there was to know about Natchez, including all the best restaurants and must-see historical sites. They were also extremely helpful with directions.
The breakfast was also phenomenal! They served everything from grits to fresh fruit and pancakes in family style so that you could sit and mingle with other guests. Ron and Mimi were very eager to attend to our needs. My boyfriend was sick--Mimi served him breakfast in bed!
The B&B was also in a great location; close to historical sites like Rosalie plantation, the Canal Street Depot, less than a block from the river, and near yummy restaurants.
We will never go back to Natchez without a visit to Wensel House!

First, let me say that previous tripadvisor reviews of the 1888 Wensel House were invaluable and totally accurate. Ron & Mimi were the perfect hosts with information and perspectives galore. After the busy days, we took advantage of the sidebar to enjoy a late afternoon cocktail before going out to dinner. As is described, the location was perfect, and the room was very comfortable and inviting. The breakfasts were delicious; a perfect start for the day. In our travels, we would rate this stay one of our top overall experiences, and would highly recommend the Wensel House! (dates of stay: April 1,2, 2006)

“Wonderful southern hospitality!”

The four of us teachers truly enjoyed our stay at the Wensel House. Our ajoining rooms were large and very comfortable, but having the beautiful living room open to us to visit was the best. The hosts were very accomodating, even putting out a tray of wine and soft drinks for our enjoyment. They were extreemly knowledable about the area and made excellent recommendations of places to see and where to eat. Their breakfasts were large and delicious-- especially the grits. The B & B is also within easy walking distance of several interesting historic sites. We look forward to staying there again in the future.

This was a very lovely place to stop off on our way from Clarksdale, MS to Louisiana. Natchez itself is beautiful and this B&B represents Natchez very well. We stayed in the cottage in the backyard which was great and to a high standard. The hosts were accommodating and we would recommend this to anyone wanting a very civilised place to stay and also wanting a taste of the Old South.

“Our favorite B&B ever!!”

My husband and I discovered the Wensel house in 1995 when we were married in Natchez. Since that time we have stayed there over a dozen times. There are so many wonderful things to say about the Wensel house and its owners, Ron and Mimi Miller. The Wensel house is inviting, warm, comfortable, and beautifully decorated with antiques. The breakfast is fabulous -- eggs, bacon, sausage, bisquits, fresh fruit, grits, pancakes...! The Wensel house is located just a short walk from the river's overlook and downtown shops. We have stayed in B&B's all over and have never found one that is as wonderful as the Wensel house. As a bonus, Ron and Mimi are amazingly informed about Natchez history and are really a joy to visit with. I would highly recommend the Wensel house to anyone!!!
