I have just returned from my 30th High School Reunion, which was held in Natchez, Mississippi on July 22-23, 2005. I, along with two of my former classmates stayed at The Wensel House. I have stayed there many, many times in the past but my classmates had not. I suggested when we were contemplating make our overnight reservations for our reunion, that we stay at The Wensel House instead of a hotel. We were fortunate enough to be able to book all three rooms. My classmates were simply thrilled, as I knew they would be.
The proprietors, Ron and Mimi Miller, were the most gracious of hosts. They opened the entire house to us and over the course of the weekend, we had several former classmates drop by for conversation and high school reminiscing. The house is absolutely beautiful and my personal favorite "home away from home". I tease Ron and Mimi that I consider The Wensel House my summer home as I stay there often. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else when I visit my old hometown.
The breakfast every morning is to die for! Ron and Mimi truly know how to prepare a great southern treat! My classmates raved all weekend about the beautiful antiques and wonderful breakfasts. They are making plans to return in the near future with their own families for a lovely weekend at The Wensel House.
I can truly say that this bed and breakfast is the best I have every visited. In fact, my law firm stayed at The Wensel House for approximately seven weeks in 1998 while we attended a trial. The attorneys have continued to return there anytime they are in the Natchez area. The proprietors are world class and so very knowledgeable of the past history of Natchez. Even though I am originally from that area, I never tire of stories of Natchez history.
I would recommend The Wensel House Bed-and-Breakfast to anyone visiting the Natchez area. The house has such character. It really makes you feel as if you have lived a little bit of history. And the hospitality of Ron and Mimi Miller is what makes your visit to The Wensel House complete. They are just the greatest and I will continue to stay with them every time I visit Natchez. I just can't imagine staying anywhere else.
