Driving through Natchez for the first time we had a list of restaurants in the area. Took a chance and thought we would stop here and glad we did. Our GPS guided us right to it. Nothing fancy, we had to laugh the door knob to the front entry door was almost falling off, but that just adds to the atmosphere! We were quite sure the food must be good because the restaurant was packed.
The biscuits were served without ordering them and were served with butter where the jam was already in it. It was different and good. Seeing it was Friday and fried catfish or smoked ribs was the Blue Plate Special, I just had to have the catfish and hubby had the smoked ribs. "OH MY it is soooo good" were the comments from both of us. And as if that wasn't enough 3 sides were included. With all that, how were we going to have room for the fantastic desserts offered? "I know dear, we will have one and split it and take one to go". That worked!! We split the Natchez Beignet filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with a warm pecan praline sauce (OH I WISH I HAD THAT NOW AS I TYPE THIS). To go we had the Chocolate Bread Pudding with white chocolate sauce on top. We put that in the cooler and saved it till we got home to Jackson, TN and put it in the microwave for a few seconds. Pure delight. We are already talking about when we will return to Natchez for a couple days and you can bet we will be back to Biscuits & Blues. One needs to come hungry there and not mind the casual attmosphere.
