“Old but nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2011

We stayed here 10/27-10/29. The hotel was built in 1927 and is old. Reading a few negative comments about the hotel really surprises me. First, with regard to excessive noise and constant music at Andrews, there must have been a big event in the area at that time, because we passed there on Thurs & Friday night and not one person was in the bar at around 10pm and never heard any noise from anything. The entire time we were there there were minimal people on the streets during the day, and none at night. The hotel is clean, but could use some updates. The staff was not overly friendly, but they were friendly enough for the 2 or 3 times you might have to speak with them. If you're used to staying at the Ritz Carlton, you may not like this place. Its in a great location, walking distance to antique shops, restuarants and many other historical landmarks. We will most definitely stay here again next time we're in Natchez.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 7th floor with a balcony and had a great view of the Mississippi River.

Stayed here one night (10/25) and would stay again. Thought it was good value for the money. As others have said, it is a little old but has a charm not to be found in newer hotels. It fit nicely with the gentility if Natchez. Only negative was a little mildew high in the shower that could be missed by someone who was not as tall as I. Mentioned it at checkout and am sure the issue was addressed by housekeeping today.

Room Tip: Coupon in state travel booklet saved $10.

I stayed at this hotel with a group. We were on the fall pilgrimage. This hotel, while old, is pleasant and the employees are very helpful. The Eola is close to many of the historic homes, the Mississippi river, and many antique shops. The room and bathroom were clean.

The excessive & constant music, coming from "Andrew's Tavern," located next door (West Side) of the Eola Hotel, from 9:00 P.M. to 3:00 A.M. the next morning, kept my wife and I up (no sleep) all night.

The Eola Staff advised us, "Well we are a resort area" and made no apologies or refund offer for our very bad $125.00 night with them. We won't be staying there again.

On the positive the hotel itself is in a great part of town, perfect old nostalgic Natchez and walking distance from the main sites and the best restaurants.

The lobby is grand and the court yard area is great for an evening bourbon and there is plenty of free parking which is good.

However the charming old world scene is pretty much another way of saying that the hotel is dated and very much in need of a re-fit. The rooms are ok although not much space and the facilities in the room are also dated, with a very loud a/c unit and a moderately comfortable bed. The staff in reception and the bar were ok but again nothing to write home about

Overall a reasonable place for a night or two but wouldn't stay longer than that.

My wife and I checked into the Eola for one night and enjoyed ourselves so much we stayed two.

This is a fine dowager of a hotel—a little worn at the cuffs but nicely turned out and exuding ingrained class and refinement only history bestows. It has all the “modern” amenities we require: A/C, hot and cold running water and WIFI. While in our room, we never heard other quests, only the local church bells ringing out the hour. Because we don’t throw parties in our room or bathroom, we found the size of both perfectly acceptable.

Carpets may be worn in places, but they’re clean. The beds are comfortable, water hot and the staff Southern-friendly and helpful.

Yes, you can stay in newer places with bigger rooms and anticeptic conditions. But you’ll miss part of the charm and grace of Old Natchez.

Room Tip: Talk with the hotel staff. Ask questions.

Make sure you request a room on the top floor overlooking the Mississippi River; the sunsets are fantastic!. The staff is very helpful with just about anything you may ever need from directions to the Old South Winery or any of the homes on the tour. Do NOT forget to have the famous Mimosa Sunday Brunch. The crawfish etoufe is to die for!
