My husband and I just came back from an overnight stay at the Riverside. We felt at home the minute we walked throught the door. The garden entrance was lovely, as was our tour of the home. Our host, Durell, instantly feels like an old friend, very accommodating and knowledgeable. After watching the sun set over the river with a glass of wine, we spent part of the night curled up by the fireplace reading from the large collection of books Durell has on hand. It was quite windy and cold, but the house was quiet and cozy. Breakfast was worth the trip! Served on a beautifully set table with soft music in the background and food to die for. We will visit again, soon!!!

We just returned from a wonderful stay with Durell at the Riverside. The room we had was dreamlike and the care he takes with his guests was exceptional. We have not stayed at many bed and breakfast places but I knew from previous reviews that this place would be an exception. We were delighted with our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Just simply To Die For !!

Durell is the ultimate Southern Gentleman Host. Not be mention that he cooks a mean breakfast. Breakfast time with the other guests is a very special time.

All the previous great reviews are correct.

Keep in mind, this is an old house, and that is it's charm. If you want modern, glitzy, internet, king bed, elevator, this is not it.

But if you want a true experience of a beautiful southern home and southern hospitality, you are in for a treat. Beautiful furnishings, antiques, and great stories. Sitting out on the front gallery sipping a glass of wine looking up and down Ole Man River and across at La. is just what the doctor ordered.

Be prepared to be spoiled !

Our stay at the Riverside Bed & Breakfast was wonderful... the breakfast was the best, the view was wonderful, the location was so convenient that we walked everywhere, and the host was unbelievably nice! As another guest we met said "why would you stay anywhere else?"

Too much to say in this short space!! Durell is the ultimate host, the view is incredible, it's very comfortable, quiet, and you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. Convenient and within minutes of downtown or Under the Hill, but you never hear a sound from the house. Durell is very knowledgeable of the town and the family histories, and serves the ultimate breakfast before setting out on a day's tour. Highly recommended!!!!!
