The Historic Natchez Cemetery is just a short drive from the heart of downtown Natchez. The streets wander a bit, but there are enough signs to get interested visitors to the front gates. Inside the gates awaits the history of Natchez told by the inscriptions carved in stone on a wide variety of gravestones, from simple crosses to ornate angels with wings spread. If arriving in a large vehicle, take it easy. This is an old cemetery with some tight turns in the road that were designed for horse drawn carriages, not SUVs. A great way to get a bit more of the flavor of one of the greatest small towns in the United States.
