We stayed in Natchez two nights and did one night at Dunleith and one at Monmouth. Dunleith was very nice, a beautiful property. Huge room in the main house with nice views to the rear of the property. Bathroom could have used a little renovation in a few spots. Breakfast buffet served in The Castle Restaurant on property was fantastic, enough for the day! Staff was very friendly.
Dinner in The Castle Restaurant was superb, definitely one of the best in Natchez, great wine list, great setting. The pub below was cozy and great for drinks.

My husband and I stayed at Dunleith Planation on 5/4/07. Dunleith is a beautiful, sprawling property that I consider a self contained destination. with a restaurant, pub, pool, gift shop and many, many secluded places that you can relax and enjoy. Not many places can you go and sit on a wrap around porch and feel like you are going back in time to a more slower way of life. Our room on the second floor was very large and comfortable. The bathroom had a claw tub with a handheld shower, at first that seemed like it would be a bother but it turned out to be just fine. The Castle Restaurant is excellent. Everything we had, appetizer, salad, entree, dessert & wine were wonderful. The restaurant has been very consistent the last 3 times we have dined there. The Pub is wonderful and it reminds you of an old European style pub. I had the Castle Champagne Martini that is one of their specialties and it was fabulous! It is important to keep in mind when you are staying at any antebellum home that some things will be different than staying at a 4-star hotel. Things such as no elevators, handheld showers, etc. might be a nuisance to some but to me it enhances the ambiance of this antebellum home. We have stayed at Dunleith many times and will continue to return.

We had our wedding at the Dunleith Plantation in May 2006. Everything, from the service to the rooms far exceeded our expectations. We rented out the plantation and the rooms above the tavern. Not one complaint was heard from anyone staying in the rooms. Everyone went out of their way to ensure all the guests had a wonderful experience. The groomsmen loved staying above the tavern as the rooms are spacious and there is a nice balcony overlooking the river. We are looking forward to another trip back to the Dunleith!!

We stayed in one of the courtyard rooms at Dunleith. The room was small, but that was not a problem. The biggest problem was the the thin walls. We went to sleep hearing the television from next door, and we woke up hearing the television. This was not our idea of a relaxing vacation.

We also did not like the sink in the room. There was no place to hang the hand towels by the sink. That was very annoying.

The room did not have enough light. So it was difficult to read in bed. There were not enough surfaces to put down our stuff. There was a small closet but no dresser. They want to be a premier property but the rooms are not that of a four star property.

The service was great. Everyone that we dealt with was very nice. I was very pleased with how nice everyone was. That helped make up for the uncomfortable room.

The grounds are beautiful and the house is amazing.

We ate dinner at the castle one night. We enjoyed walking to dinner. The servers were young, but very pleasant. We had a good meal. The breakfast is also served at the castle. There is a hot buffet. The food was exactly the same both days, but that was okay. It was tasty.

Next time we will spend more money and stay at Monmouth.

Out of all the hotels we had booked for our holiday, this one I was sure was rock solid, great reviews and web site. The room was fabulous with lots of sumptous fabrics and old world charm, and a wonderful grand bed which was extremely comfortable. The building was charming and despite all those stairs we felt rather privelidged to stay in such a place. The reception staff very friendly and helpful and the food quite simply to die for. It was all going so well, then come 9.15p.m. the waitresss pressed us to order desserts, one of us was still eating our main course! After that we felt hurried and that we weren't wanted there, so we bolted our desserts, skipped coffee and dragged our very full up bodies down to the bar (with our wine) where to be honest didn't fare much better. The bar shut at 10.00p.m and the bar tender clearly didn't want to serve drinks at 9.45 either, so after sinking into their very comfy chairs for a while we took ourselves back to our room feeling rather irritated and bloated, it's a shame that after a lovely meal we didn't get to savour it, so hence the 3 out of 5, I suppose it was just unlucky, at $235 it certainly was.
