I just spent a night at Dunletih a week ago. Went at the perfect time ... had the whole main house to ourselves. Only other people there were staying in the dependency.

House and grounds are absolutely fairy tale-like. There are four rooms on the second floor; Robert E. Lee, Nathan Bedford Forrest, Stonewall Jackson and the General Dahlgren. the last being largest of the rooms. Nice period furnishings, wonderful slipper tub, however, there were sine signs of wear and tear on the draoerues . Bed was a bit hard and the pillows could have been better. Only real complaint was with the shower was terrible.

This being said, these few thingsl paled in significance to everything that was right at the mansion. Staff were friendly, responsive and couldn't have been nicer. Breakfast at The Castle Restaurant was first class. First floor is furnished and available for tours. As a guest, a tour is part of the package. Take advantage of it. The house as well as its occupants have a very interesting history.

I would recommend it highly. if you can go off-peak and during the week i believe the experience will be that much more special.

We just returned from a two day stay at Dunleith for our anniversary. This was a much anticipated visit and I am pleased to say that all our expectations were exceeded! The staff was the epitome of southern hospitality. Our room, the General Dahlgren, was gorgeous - well appointed, very clean, and spacious. The food at the Castle was scrumptious - breakfast was a feast! No lunch required! We highly recommend this B&B for the ultimate experience in pampering and Southern hospitality.

My wife and I stayed at Dunlieth for one night celebrating our anniversary. We opted for a "package" visit which included a room on the second floor of the main house, the General Lee, a four course evening dinner at the Castle Restaurant located behind the house, a complimentary tour of the house, and a full American breakfast buffet the next morning, again at the Castle Restaurant. We expected a wonderful visit, but we got even more. The staff were wonderful and helpful, even though the administrative offices and gift shop were destroyed by a fire about two months earlier. They were working out of a trailer temporarily, but that did not seem to diminish anyone's hospitality. The room was gorgeous, funished in period pieces from the mid - 1800's. An adequate bath had been added in prior years to the rooms which took up some of the second floor balcony that surrounded the inner house. We enjoyed drinks on the second floor balcony just outside our room on the front rocking in wicker chairs and rockers. Our dinner was outstanding; the service was excellent. We enjoyed a very quiet night, sleeping late the following morning. After showers and photos of the exterior, we had our excellent breakfast. We were able to view the three other rooms on our floor before we departed (cleaning services taking place). I think the General Forrest room may have been just a little more pleasing since there was a separate shower from the bath tub which was in a separate room off the bath area. I would highly recommend Dunlieth. I do not know about the other rooms behind the main house. We toured some other B & B in Natchez, but we think Dunlieth is far superior to any others we saw.

We stayed in Natchez two nights and did one night at Dunleith and one at Monmouth. Dunleith was very nice, a beautiful property. Huge room in the main house with nice views to the rear of the property. Bathroom could have used a little renovation in a few spots. Breakfast buffet served in The Castle Restaurant on property was fantastic, enough for the day! Staff was very friendly.
Dinner in The Castle Restaurant was superb, definitely one of the best in Natchez, great wine list, great setting. The pub below was cozy and great for drinks.

My husband and I stayed at Dunleith Planation on 5/4/07. Dunleith is a beautiful, sprawling property that I consider a self contained destination. with a restaurant, pub, pool, gift shop and many, many secluded places that you can relax and enjoy. Not many places can you go and sit on a wrap around porch and feel like you are going back in time to a more slower way of life. Our room on the second floor was very large and comfortable. The bathroom had a claw tub with a handheld shower, at first that seemed like it would be a bother but it turned out to be just fine. The Castle Restaurant is excellent. Everything we had, appetizer, salad, entree, dessert & wine were wonderful. The restaurant has been very consistent the last 3 times we have dined there. The Pub is wonderful and it reminds you of an old European style pub. I had the Castle Champagne Martini that is one of their specialties and it was fabulous! It is important to keep in mind when you are staying at any antebellum home that some things will be different than staying at a 4-star hotel. Things such as no elevators, handheld showers, etc. might be a nuisance to some but to me it enhances the ambiance of this antebellum home. We have stayed at Dunleith many times and will continue to return.
