This was the second time staying at The Briars. First time was 15 years ago. Still a great experience. The grounds are beautiful. The rooms inside the home are great. We had the run of the house at night. The owners live off the property. We sat quietly for hours in the room where Jefferson Davis married Varina Howell. The breakfast is in a separate building. It was a great Southern breakfast. Our bed
had a canopy over it. You have a wonderful view of the Mississippi river from the gazebo.

“A Breath of Fresh Air”

I had the previledge of staying for four days at the Briars. The escape from the everyday husstle and bustle was most refreshing. The first night there I stayed in the main house, and the room was fantastic. Clean and well taken care of. The second thru the fourth night I stayed in the "old school house". The furnishings are great with a setting room upstairs and the bedroom down.
The breakfast was exceptional, although I don't care for grits. The service was outstanding. "Thank you Henry".
The grounds and the view of the surrounding area are fantastic, and the gardens certainly worth the visit. The staff was very pleasant and helpful.
I certainly would recommend the stay to anyone, and the next time I am in Natchez, I plan to stay at the Briars.

“The Briars is beautiful.”

We stayed in the cottage that is near the veranda and has a riverview. The cost was $160 a night and worth every penny. This was one of the wonderful experiences we've ever had. The staff was very helpful, the room was immaculate and quite cozy and comfortable. The grounds are incredibly lovely. (The swimming pool is in need of a cleaning but apparently it isn't officially opened for swimming).
We heard that the Briars is in the middle of a sale at the moment and hope that the new owner will not make too many changes as far as the solitude and making it too commercial. The charm of the Briars rests in its beauty, the peace, and its unique history. It is a perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the modern world.

“Springtime at the Briars”

We spent one night at Dunleith and one at the Briars and found the Briars to be very nice. Unlike Dunleith, we had the unlimited access to the main house at the Briars. Our room was in the main house and was nicely decorated. The staff was very friendly and the view from the the bluff overlooking the river was the best in the area. The breakfast was satisfying and the service was great.

Our experience was not totally unpleasant at Dunleith as the meals were very good but for the money, I would have expected our room to be much nicer that it was. We weren't in the main house but on the wing adjacent to it next to the gift shop area.

In comparing the two, for the price, the Briars was much better in our opinion.
