“Good hotel great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

This hotel offers a great location for anyone wanting to ski Sierra Nevada. It is just a couple of minutes walk with your equipment to the main gondola lift and is very near the bars and restaurants. The village itself is quite small and compact so you are not far from anything wherever you are staying. That said if you are a family with children it would be a lot harder getting to the lifts if you were up in the mid zone or higher. Buffet style breakfast and evening meals were good, plenty of choice and a great salad bar. I stayed right at the end of the season and found the hotel to offer excellent value for money but I gather the rates can be much higher at peak times. As for the rooms there is nothing fancy about them but they are a great size, comfortable clean and warm.

Close by is the underground car park, ski lifts and most of the bars and restaurants. The staff are very friendly and helpfully. The rooms are large and there is plenty of hot water to soak in after a day on the slopes. The hotel does need to replace the worn out bed sheets, threadbare towels and look at revamping bathrooms.

I don't understand why this hotel is listed at Tripadvisor under "Hostales y pensiones". This
is a three star hotel.
The main quality of this hotel is its situation, in the centre of Pradollano near to many restaurants, 5 min from the telecabina. It occupies the first floor of big building.
Otherwise it is oldish and in need of reform, bed covers and towels had a bit worn aspect. This was partially compensated by the cleaning. I was almost perfectly satisfied with the cleaning of the room. Almost, because of one anecdotal occurrence: the second day I found a cut nail on the bathroom floor, probably fallen down when emptying the bin. I didn't remove it on purpose and it remained there till the end of our stay. So at first I wondered if the floor had been cleaned at all but honestly didn't noticed other signs of negligence. As I said this is anecdotal.
We were two but we had been given a triple room which was very spacious, with possibility for fourth bed. The room was at the backside of the hotel and the window was looking at a chimney like space between the hotel and the wall of the hill. The problem was that in this space are set up the extractor fans of the restaurants below the hotel. They make noise and let out smells. The heating is strong and it's advisable to close the radiator during the night. May be they stop it centrally but I'm not sure. This description might seem rather negative but it's not really bad and considering the good situation, the cleanliness and the lower prices compared to nearby accommodations I would stay there again but not half board because the really negative thing about this hotel is the food. It is of strikingly low quality.
Breakfast: The coffee was regular instant coffee from a machine, on the third day you are bored from its lack of character. The juice might seem acceptable at first sip but then you realise it's not juice but some chemical mix.The variety of food was acceptable but the sausages and cold cuts were of low quality. The bacon is not a real bacon but some kind of industrial mix made to reproduce its aspect. The "cheese" is the same fake. It's a shame to serve this in a country like Spain, a big producer of cheese and pork products. There were no French croissants and alike though there were some kind of bakery products I didn't like.
Dinner: There were always three cooked dishes, one of them fish, which were quite good, very bad chips, vegetable dish, pasta with two sauces also no very good and a battered sausage or similar. At the salad bar there were a number of fresh and tinned products to make your own salad and two kinds of mixed salad always containing low quality cold cuts. At dinner they were serving two kind of cheese, the one from breakfast pretending to be Edam and a proper cured Spanish cheese. No special food for Christmas Eve but the next day we had jamón and shrimps, an exceptional occurrence.
But I have to emphasize that the service at the restaurant was very good. The waiters were rapid, correct and very well organized in doing there duties.
So, if you take this hotel, better don't eat there on a regular bases. The dinner costs 12,50 if it is not included in your reservation.

Room Tip: Rooms 103 and 104 overlook extractor fans, don't know about the rest.
