“Big disappointment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

This was recommended by a cousin instead of staying in the city. The staff is very nice and so is the breakfast. The room was awful. The bathroom was small and the exhaust fan was so loud. The carpeting was dark and nasty. The linens are low quality so not smooth. Well we just didn't like the place. It is kind in a strange place to find but borders on water and trail. That is nice. Next door is a very good restaurant....forgot the name. The drive from there into San Fran is very easy. O

Thank you for staying with us recently and for taking the time to post a review about our hotel. I am very dissapointed to find that we were unable to meet your expectations. I will be promptly inspecting the room you were in to ensure it is up to standards as what you describe is not. We are also in the process of some room renovations which will include new carpet, new wall vinyl, new bathroom fans, etc. New bedding has just been put in in the past few weeks and all other items in the room have been replaced in the last two years. We will also see some other exciting changes such as new additions to breakfast such as pancakes, cinnamon rolls, and other hot items. Again, I do appreciate your time to comment and hope that we may see you again soon.

This was a business trip so I wasn't looking for much except bed and sleep quality - both of which were great - but there were a few other nice touches in this place. My initial concern as we drove into what presents as something of a road-side truck-stop faded as the building unfolded - the rear wing is adjacent to the water and nice touches including a 'packable' breakfast and evening fireplaces added to a homey feel. The website gives a feeling of remoteness, almost mountain-ish location, but this is located in semi-suburbia, not far from Sausalito. It is a fair way to any shops but there is a restaurant next door (part of the hotel?) with good but not cheap food. Location was convenient for the work we were doing in Marin but if you're going to San Francisco you'll be doing quite a few miles to get into town. Courtesy pushbikes were a nice addition - cycle along the waterfront path 10mins to coffee and breakfast if you get sick of the packages granola, boiled eggs and drip coffee.

Room Tip: Request something at the back, away from the highway. Apparently the ice machines are also noisy (ac...

If I could, I would have rated this hotel a 3.5. Its certainly more towards "very good" than "average" so I rounded up.

You could tell this is an older hotel that was given a "refresh". The hallways still feel old and dark and if you look closely the walls seem to have only been given a coat of paint. On the other hand, the rooms are furnished nicely, the furniture is newer and the beds were comfortable. The lobby, patio with fire pit and the pool areas look fantastic. The hotel offers smores at night and that was a very nice touch. The breakfast is underwhelming as there is not much variety and no hot selections that many hotels in the same price point are offering. We paid ~145/night and at that price, the hotel was fine.

Overall we had a good stay. We felt comfortable here and the location worked out well..so much so that the next time we visit San Francisco, we will consider staying here and either take the ferry or drive into the city.

Thank you very much for staying with us during your recent visit to Marin county. I appreciate your comments and have good news regarding some upcoming changes that will be coming soon to the hotel. While we have done extensive upgrades and renovations within the past few years we are continuing and have planned several exciting changes in the upcoming months. We will be adding several hot items to the complimentary breakfast including pancakes, cinnamon rolls, and more. We are also doing additional upgrades to the rooms and public areas and will definitly keep your comments in mind as we go through this process. Thank you again for taking the time to write a review and I look forward to seeing you next time you are in the area.

Great price away from fishermans wharf. Stayed two nights and took the Larkspur ferry over to fishermans wharf. After seeing the massive crowds and traffic at the wharf, we are glad we stayed in Mill Valley. Very enjoyable ferry ride back and forth. The hotel is lovely. Great beds and pillows. Fluffy white towels and lots of hot water. The breakfast was varied and supplies were refilled quickly. Enjoyed the s'mores by the fire. Nice touch. Staff was quite informative and pleasant. Do yourself a favour and don't pay the ridiculous prices in San Fran. Great hotel and would definitely stay here again.

After looking at the costs involved in visiting SF I chose to stay over the bay in Mill Valley. Good hotels in the city are expensive and parking can be mind blowing. As Seniors the $18 round trip fares on the Larkspur ferry which takes about 1/2 an hour is great value and gives lovely views of the islands the GG bridge and the city as you arrive. Parking at the terminal is free and it is about 10 minutes from the hotel.

This hotel offered everything we required in a hotel with an excellent restaurant next door.

Room Tip: Choose a balcony room overlooking the pool or the creek and hills. Avoid the view of Hwy 101.

We stayed here for four nights on our recent trip to California. We chose it due to the other trip advisor reviews and it's location north of SF.
On check in the staff were very accommodating and let us look over a couple of rooms so we could choose the best place for us. Once we had they went out of their way to find us a room that met our needs.
There is plenty of car parking space and the hotel is generally very quiet given it was quite busy and between to busy roads.
Access to the 101 is very close with a short drive to the Golden Gate Bridge. Easy access to SF without paying SF costs. Also an easy trip from here up to Napa.

Wold definately stay here again.
