“Not to be missed when you cross the bridge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2008

We stayed in Mill Valley during an overnight fishing charter. We had several recommendations for dinner, but chose the Buckeye due to its proximity. We were so glad we did. The portions were large and the menu choices were so bountiful it made it difficult to choose. I chose the brocoli and cauliflower au gratin side dish and could have eaten every mouthful of the oversized side dish. My husband had the tuna and the portion was more than adequate and seasoned appropriately. I had an applewood chicken entree that was delicious and allowed just the right amount of room for dessert. We chose the sundae with the homemade caramel sauce. Perfectly "burnt" the topping was delicious and didn't overwhelm the ice cream. We enjoyed it so much that we went back the next night even though we had dinner plans in downtown San Francisco.

The wait was about 45 minutes on the weekend night and there was no wait during the dinner hour on Monday night.

Great food; I had the roasted scallops and baked artichoke (appetizer); the both dishes were scrumptious. The place is always crowded and is a bit pricy.

“Not so good Restaurant in Mill Valley California”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2007

We ate at your restaurant in April , 2007 after our son's wedding.

My husband and I were very disappointed. The only thing
on the menu of interest to me (for breakfast) was a hamburger.

I ordered mine and several of our party heard me order med rare.
Well, it came charred on the bottom and very dry in the middle,
not wanting to cause a fuss, I said nothing until I was ready to
leave and I told the waitress to please inform the cook not
to overcook hamburgers when they are ordered med. rare.
Her answer was "Well, you should have told me earlier" like
it was my fault. I was just sorry that we were entertaining
out of town guest and had less than average food. We are from
Atlanta, but lived in the Bay Area at one time. I do not think anyone thought much of anything they were served. It was expensive,
I paid the bill. And, yes I have eaten at enough places in the
Bay Area to know what good California food is.

We did not expect grits, but polenta would have been good.
At least plain ole scrambled eggs with bacon/sausage and toast.

We have not written you off, will try again when we are in Mill Valley.

While I was there I ask the waitress if y'all served "Buckeyes" and her answer was what is that. Well, here is the recipe.
I believe it orignated in Ohio "The Buckeye State". At least the
first i ran across the recipe it was in South Carolina. A neighbor from Ohio gave the recipe to me.

The following recipe is from "THe New Perry Hotel" in Perry , GA
cookbook.

Peanut Butter Buckeyes

1 pound of butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
12-oz melted semi-sweet choclate chips
18-oz extra crunchy peanut butter
1 pound box of confectioner sugar
4 oz melted paraffin

Melt butter and peanut butter over low heat. Microwave works great. Add sugar and vanilla. Cool and roll into walnut size balls. Melt choclate and paraffin in top of double boiler or microwave. Dip balls in melted choclate and parafin mixture. Drop onto wased paper until set.

Before you try this, you might want to go on line and check other
recipes for Buckeyes.

Thank you,

Joyce Brown
