“Stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2014

The Coastal Trail on a clear day is magical. This whole area is a runner's / hiker's paradise. I actually saw a bobcat on the Bobcat Trail!

“good place for a walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2014

I met a friend here for a long walk. It's a good trail and not too crowded. Not the most scenic walk, but good nonetheless.

“A VERY EASY RELAXING HIKE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2014

I like hiking this trailhead when I don't have a lot of energy. It is a 4 mile hike back and forth. You end up in a beach, set up a tent or shield for a relaxing stay. Reading a book, taking a nap or playing in the water are just the few activities you can do to enjoy the time. This trailhead is very busy because of its proximity to the city and people enjoy coming here for the killer views. Weather here could be very tricky, so better bring extra layers of clothing. If you want to skip the light hike , you can divert your climb to Rodeo Beach or John Muir Beach which are more moderate/strenuous hike. The best time to come here to avoid the crowd is during weekdays. During summer, drive a little early to get a parking spot, parking fills up really quick during summer season. I already hike this trail on 4 seasons several times and I love it and will continue to do it.

“Springtime glory”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

This trail is amazing in the springtime. There is a huge variety of wildflowers as you walk down this trail to its conclusion, beautiful Tennessee Cove. Arrive early for parking and dress in layers for changing weather.

“Portal to the Pacific”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

Tennessee Valley is accessible to all, whether walker or experienced hiker. Newly installed ADA bathrooms are available adjacent to parking lot. The undulating trail starts as asphalt, but soon bifurcates to delight the boots of hikers. Strollers and bikes can share the paved roadway. The route is lined with mature trees and tall grasses. You're also likely to see bobcat, quail or even owl as you saunter toward the inviting stretch of sandy beach. Play in the surf, sand and shadows of the cliffs. Spy ships going westward. Somehow the visitors flow in and out like the waves, and now refreshed, you too will head back the 1.5 miles to the trailhead.
