“Amazing views, great nature & hiking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

What an amazing place! There are so many trails here. We brought a picnic lunch, hiked for about an hour, and enjoyed views over the entire Bay Area, including the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge, all of San Francisco, all the islands, Mt. Diablo in the distance, and even the Farallones Islands out in the Pacific.

Bring binoculars and camera, good walking shoes, and be sure to dress in layers because it might get warm, or windy. There are so many beautiful spots along the trails where you can stop for a picnic - bringing food and water is a good idea.

“Wonderful hiking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

I followed a guide book a friend loaned me and hiked a 4.2 mile loop. I parked at Bootjack and the hike ended up in the same spot. This was just the perfect length and went through a couple of different terrains - woods, scrub brush and ocean views.

“Great views”

We stopped here to see red woods. There are second generation red woods but nothing huge like you would see at the national parks. We were able to get good photos of the city from here.

“Mt Tamalpais State Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

Twisting wooded drive and a short steep walk to the best view in the San Francisco bay area over the 360 degrees. There are multiple trails and picnic area, the open air Mountain play theater, old railroad beds, wildlife. Muir woods is on the slope of the mountain. There are lakes on the north slope, waterfalls, and the view

“A JEWEL CLOSE TO THE CITY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

If you live in the bay area and you don't go here, you are missing a great deal. Been here multiple times to hike and just enjoy the breathtaking 360 degrees view. There are multiple trails to choose from. Easy or hard, woods or ocean trail. I've seen it in a very clear day where you could see the magnificent views of San Francisco, Marin Headlands, Oakland, Golden Gate Bridge and Bay Bridge and some of the other bridges. And even if it's not a clear day, the rolling clouds in the hills are just awesome to watch. This is one place I will continue to visit.
