“Hikers paradise.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

Otherwise known as Mt Tam, this place has some of the best hikes in the Bay area.
My favorite by far, is taking the Steep Ravine Trail from the Pantoll Ranger station and hiking to Stinson beach. You park at the Pantoll Ranger station and pick up the trail.
It's down the mountain to Stinson Beach, where you can grab some delish grub and libations before embarking on a totally different hike back up the mnt to Pantoll on the Matt Davis trail. The views will blow you away !

“Spectacular”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

Next to Yosemite, the most beautiful place I've seen. You have Redwoods, panoramic views then more panoramic views and more bands of Redwoods. There are trails everywhere for hikers. A trail to the Fire Lookout at the top or a trail around the very top that is paved and very easy walk with beautiful views of San Francisco, Oakland, the headlands, the ocean and the bay with all the bridges. Then you still have the views to the east. The only down side is dog are only allow in certain places. Even on a cloudy day it is worth the trip.

There is a fee to park up at the lookout. The rest is free.

“Great views, and place to eat lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

After touring the Muir Woods, I drove up to the top of Mount Tam, which is only about 15 miles from the Muir park. The views while going up were outstanding. From this vantage point you can see the Pacific Ocean clearly and the San Francisco Bay. The top of the Golden Gate Bridge can also be seen. I stopped and had some lunch at a picnic table at the observation point. I also enjoyed some Mount Tam Cheese from Cowgirl Creamery, a nice Brie on a warm summers day. thir were also alot of hiking trails, but I didn't have time to travel them.

“Fabulous Hiking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

Great hiking opportunities in this state park bordering Muir Woods National Monument. We took the Fern Creek Trail to the summit and were rewarded with some outstanding views of the San Francisco Bay area. The hiking trails are well maintained, but steep for most of the trip. Round trip hiking time to the summit from the Muir Woods National Monument parking area was about 5-6 hours depending on how often you stop. Absolutely worth the challenge!
