“JUST GREAT”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2009

On arrival at the hotel, I found it was in a great town called mill valley, lots of yummy mummy's and wealthy retirees'. Great restaraunts, coffee shops, gift shops, deli store and an excellent thearte.

The hotel was small but friendly the welcome was warm and genuine. Bottled water was offered on arrival. I checked in recived my key and was directed to my room, Room 4 on the second floor, I carried my own case as there was no concierge, it was not that type of hotel!

The room was air conditioned, clean, large with a small balcony, that you could not sit on and a lovely and comforable queen size bed. The bathroom was clean and had all you would expect including toiletries.

Breakfast was a self service choice of cereals and cakes, waffles and fruit, coffee and juice. The waiter offered his special choice of coffee which i tried but it was awful, the regular coffee on offer was just fine.

There is a balcony upstairs which over looks the woodland at the rear, but there is not much of a view and it is in shade for most of the time. There are no outdoor facilities, or at least none that I was made aware of!

You park your car underneath the hotel or on the street.

Problem! My room, room 4 had a toilet above it and the breafast peparation kitchen. Through the night the security would use the hotel and the flushing sound was horrible as was the constant footsteps in the kitchen. I closed my bathroom door but the flushing sound was hardly any different it was very very intrusive, as was the footsteps. I put up with it for 3 nights, then made the front desk aware, the noise then subsided for one night and then it continued thereafter for another 3 nights. This is the only problem I had, I fully reccomend the hotel, but make sure you dont get room 4, they know its noisy!

They did offer to compensate me with a free night the next time I go over which is fine, all i wanted was peace and quiet not money off!

Mill valley is a great place to relax and use a centre point for seeing the wider bay area.

We go to the Mill Valley Inn once a month, every month, for one or two nights. It is the best spot in Northern California to get away, relax and recharge. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are comfy and most even have a fireplace and deck! Well worth the price. Give it a try once and you'll be hooked, we were!

We had a one night stay at the Mill Valley Inn on our way to Wine Country. It was an enjoyable visit---my wife and I both really like Marin County. Mill Valley is a charming small town with a great town square. Its not a tourist town, but a place where locals live, shop, eat, hang out with their kids. Its also close to Sausalito---another great town (but a little more tourist-oriented). Mill Valley Inn is your only choice if you want to stay in the heart of Mill Valley---fortunately its a nice one.

The hotel is very attractive from the street. Our room was a nice size, with iron bed, wood armoire, comfy chair and french doors looking out to the redwood forest. Furnishings are stylish. The hotel itself is about a block from the town square. After enjoying complimentary wine at the hotel, we walked a couple of blocks to Bungalow 44 for dinner---great spot. In the morning we had our complimentary breakfast of cereal, fruit, pastries, coffee. Free parking in the courtyard area.

I thought the hotel layout was a bit odd. Some of the hotel looks out onto this interior courtyard that is a parking area. Breakfast was not bad, but not great. Service was pretty minimal---there was someone in the office if you needed anything. But for the price---around $200/night on a prime fall weekend, including parking, evening wine and breakfast---I thought this hotel was a good value, and the room was nice. Plus, its a great location. We very much enjoyed our short stay in Mill Valley.

Nice hotel in a quiet location, Mill Valley is lovely with good restaurants and a pretty centre. Very helpful service and comfortable rooms, but the price was a bit steep for what you get in our view. Highly recommend taking the ferry from Larkspur or Sausalito into San Francisco, a quarter of a harbour trip price and the views are tremendous.

We stayed here for a few nights for a local wedding and loved the hotel. While on the expensive side, the service was outstanding and the rooms were beautiful, with a balcony overlooking redwoods and a fireplace in the room. Free parking on site and complimentary afternoon wine were just a few highlights. The breakfast in the morning was scrumptious; definitely try the quiche.

We enjoyed our stay here and would come back to this intimate and cozy hotel.

We stayed here for the first couple nights of our honeymoon. Our room was in the back house and overlooked the small creek and and a redwood grove. The ceilings were high, making the room seem even larger. The bed was super comfy. The bathroom was great with a shower and a separate tub. The staff was very friendly. The coffee in the morning was great with nice pastries, muffins and fresh fruit available for breakfast. It may seem pricey but given the area is reasonable. Walking distance to all downtown Mill Valley has to offer. Up the street is Old Mill Park and the library. Across the street is a theatre that once a week has a comedy night. A short walk takes you to the local market which has a nice deli. Tyler Florence's new store is across the street for the market and is a nice addition to the area. 5 minutes away from the hotel is the local movie theater which shows independent/art house type films. In the vicinity are many coffee houses and restaurants. You are a short drive to Muir Woods, Golden Gate Rec. Area, and Mt. Tamalpais. The Golden Gate Bridge is ten minutes away. In an hour you are in wine country. Hard to beat the location. We sat on the deck outside our room, enjoying the sounds of the small town and nature around us.
