“Sunday Treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

Visited Pistyl Rhaeadr waterfall on a Sunday morning, nearby Llanrhaeadr has a choice of hotels and inns, the Plough is always our favourite. Great Sunday Lunch offering, Local roast beef, fresh veg and roasties, homemade yorkshires for £7.95 and just £5.50 for the kids. My youngest always demands the pudding special, sticky toffee with thick cream and Butterscotch sauce - to die for! There is a full menu and the place is always very welcoming. We visit when we can, generally in the school holidays when we visit grandma!

Great place, very friendly, we enjoyed an excellent family meal on a Saturday afternoon, manager treated my two kids to free pool to give us a break, much appreciated. We had lovely pasta, fresh chicken and my fourteen year old had the biggest and best gammon steak he had ever seen - topped with free range eggs and proper chips. Good atmosphere, mx of locals watching the football and a few scattered tourists. Llanrhaeadr is a smashing place and well worth a visit. The Plough does B&B also, which we intend to try out this autumn. If you are travelling in North Wales, make time for the Plough, you won't regret it.

We visited for a meal as had seen good reviews and were not disappointed! Hubby had t bone steak, I had rib eye and both were beautiful! Served with hand cut chips made from locally grown potatoes and the veg was locally grown too... You could tell how fresh they all were by the taste! Absolutely delicious!!! Good price too, our meals plus 3 drinks totalled less than £30! Well impressed. It does seem to be in the middle of nowhere and took a while to find in the dark but once you get there it's worth it. We chose to sit in the main bar to eat by the gorgeous log fire rather than in the restaurant but the whole pub is gorgeous. Owners so friendly and really helpful! Will be back next time in the area!!!!

Visited this pub on night one of our caravanning holiday, the kids were so impressed with their meals that they demanded we kept going back (three visits in the week we were there). The plough does not do kids food but happily provides a children's portion of pretty much anything on the menu. This is proper food, home made lasagne, beef in Guinness, Chilli and Roast Chicken were our favourites. We felt comfortable in the lounge bar, pool table for the kids, staff extremely helpful with bits and pieces about where to visit locally. Also free cash back which proved very handy because we couldn't find a bank for love nor money!

This is a great little pub, the location is excellent on route to or from Snowdonia, we visited for Sunday lunch on our wy home to Telford. The roast of the day was a really lovely pork loin with all the trimmings for just £7.95, good veg and proper Yorkshire puddings. The kids had home made burgers with proper chips which they really liked. Decent real ale and decent coffee. Would reccomend a visit if in the area or passing through as we were.

Was recommended by a friend who has stayed here (we did not), we were wowed by a simple steak menu, but what steaks! I had a t Bone for the first time in years, I couldn't fault it, home made pepper sauce, proper chips etc. My wife had a lovely home made tart and salad, puddings were limited but had a great home made sticky toffee pudding and a strawberry pavlova! Have booked for Sunday Lunch in August next time we are up. Woud definitely recommend!

We had a one-night stay away from the kids to celebrate my wife's birthday. The Plough is a lovely old building with a roaring fire, decent real ale, very comfortable beds, welcoming staff, lively and friendly regulars and nice food. It isn't Masterchef-style cuisine, but good quality local produce very well cooked. I can honestly say I had the best rib-eye steak and chips I've had in years. I also recomment the chorizo and smoked bacon salad starter. The village, too, is lovely, and is in some of the best countryside in the UK. Great breakfast, as well. Perfect!
